These are AI influece lists I put together for the Beta. Each influence list requires an AI file.
The Logic in the list is most important to left and least to the right.
Reasoning behind the list was to ensure some stability in politics (players can otherwise sabotage things too easily) and to make the AI more aggressive diplomatically.
This is just a proposal; comments from testing and for improvements are welcome.

No comments at all? :(
I am considering removing the Soviet Influence list and increasing the Dutch and Belgian lists. Too many Yugoslav and Greek axis members :)

well, i have not tested, because i haven't downloaded 1.03b right now...
i will donwload it today, but i have to save everything about CORE, then update all the stuff, and then test... too much time... :(

I have seen that a lot of people complains about how the AI goes crazilly to influence other countries...
I think that is good, because if not, you end with 10 axis members by 1939...

:D

Well that was the thought :)

Is the selection from the list random or in the order listed? If it's random, would listing a country multiple times increase the chance of an influence attempt or will this be ignored?

I don't see PHI in the Japanese influence list, not sure how historical it would be to add it but intuitively it seems a better candidate than Persia and Iraq.

Yesterday I ran a number of test games ('36 campaign) and Japan consistently ends up in the Communist part of the alignment triangle. This really runs contrary to my view of Japan at the time as a signatory to the Anti Comintern pact and with a leadership that sought to destroy the influence of communism in the Far East. It also does nothing to help the USSR from defeat at the hands of the Axis :(

Perhaps there's something to be said for the AI to spend some more DI on coups and a bit less on influence, I don't remember seeing any coups at all in the test games.

The AI doesn't coup at all, unfortunately. The order doesn't matter (which I didn't know when I put the list together). The ideology thing matters very little IRL. I have considered putting Japan in the Dutch list which would counter-act the Soviets a bit. It is terribly difficult to get this right... so all thoughts and comments are welcome. Testing and improvements are even more welcome. I initially intended the entire list to be in, which I believe would have made a bit of a difference (the strength of diplomacy is proportionate to the number of AI files, sigh...)

Ok thanks for clarifying that. Any idea if multiple entries (ie { JAP JAP JAP } for Germany and Italy) would make a difference?

I'm getting more and more into AI editing and I run a lot of test games, but my effort is focused on the Far East for now. I'll probably try to counter-balance the communist influence on Japan with some events (Anti-Comintern Pact, Tripartite Pact, "Cabinet Falls" etc).

No idea. I will ask in the beta forum.

Aetius, did you get any clarification on the multiple entries? Having run with it for quite a while now my tentative conclusion is that it only counts unique occurrences :( Too bad, it would have been great to be able to indicate priority.

Historically YUG should end in the axis corner during the war, but for the British instigated coup.

Other comments:
remove AFG from all influence lists except USSR, UK and Per. I don't know why, but every nation seems to think afganistan of major importance in the game. It was only interesting for the Brits, russians and persians to ensure stable borders.

Remove Ino (indonesia) from all influence lists, unless it gets implemented. If so, add to USA list and AST list

Italy: add Egy and Syr (if Syria is implemented, all in Mare Nostrum idea), remove Man and Sia

Germany: add Egy, Hol (strong nazi influence resulting in nazi party and counters the UK a bit), Bra, Chi, SAF?, Vic, Swe; remove Afg, Man, Sia, Spr, Bol?, Gre

jap: add Hol, Vic, Ast?, Ind (if india is implemented as puppet); remove Irq

US: add Jap (counters USSR influence), after outbreak of war add Vic, (free)Fra, Ast, Nzl, Syr?

UK: remove Ven; add Egy, Pol, Rom, Swe, Nor, Yug, Ind, Cze, Chi, Por and Fin

France: remove Irq, afg, Omn, Yem; add Syr, Vic, Bra, Pol, Cze, Yug (france's approach of little entente)

Can: add Nzl, Ast, Saf; remove some of the south american nations (or all, focus Can on commonwealth and US)

Ast: add Ind, Nzl, SAF (to help UK keep Ind out of Jap hands)

Nzl: add Ast, SAF, CAN

SAF: add Ast, Nzl, Can

USSR: remove Irq, Tib, Chi (they already influence CHC), Ind (at least until wwII is over); add Nor, Swe (both to balance UK and Ger), Fra, Est, Lit, Lat, Fin (these four after Mol-Ribb pact, might make annexing baltics easier, maybe not Fin to ensure winter war), Pol, Mex

Netherlands: add japan and portugal

add north korea to CHC and Rus list after creation; add Kor to US and Ast, Jap, UK list after creation

The following new AI files need influence lists. Please post suggestions here.

Afghanistan
Albania
Austria
Bolivia
Bulgaria
Chile
Colombia
Czechoslovakia
Ecuador
Greece
Ireland
Iraq
Mongolia
Persia
Peru
Phillipines
Romania
Siam
Turkey
Venezuela
Yugoslavia

Influence Lists

Am I stating the obvious when I suggest that they should all be very concerned with the actions of their neighbors? Most of them are minor nations that weren't very active on the world political stage. MDow

Yup, that's the obvious part :) Some of them have a longer reach though and also sometimes there's less obvious links (like the German mission to China).

I would suggest (for the start) 2-3 neighbouring countries. Then we can check the results and adjust it, if something weird happen.

Nope, the work was done on the TechMod AI files. Including it in the hotfix would have meant 21 new files and 21 changed files, that's too much potential for new problems. This work will be included in the v0.4 release.
