OK, it's a bug, but it's still damn clever. The Allies aren't in a position to do anything to him, and the Germans won't attack while he's fighting the Allies, apparently.

I see someone else posted this to Mantis already. Wonder what's so special about April 41.
 
I got around it by editing the autosave -- with positive relations the DOW doesn't happen. Annoying, but at least it isn't fatal.
 
I've seen the Germans DOW the Soviets while they were already at war (via the France DOW event) against the Allies.

So, it doesn't appear to always happen.
 
Another wacky Soviet April 41 DOW for me, but this time it's against the UK, not France.

The thing that's really confusing me is that it's always April 41. I didn't see any AI change scheduled for the Soviets that month, unless I missed something.
 
I had this funny France DOW, too. Loading Autosave and every time on April 3rd 1941 the DOW came. Modifying the relation of about -35 to +35 and the DOW never happened again. About three months later without problems the Sov AI DOW'ed USA. Reload did not help an I did not want to edit the savegame again so I had no choice to DOW the SOVs myself (to get rid of them :) ).

Maybe the Sov AI goes haywire because of some tuning for the anticipated german attack in June 1941?

Ha ha ha :). I noticed the same, and now I see mod is plagued with SU DoW on France. I thought it is a joke! I expected that Germany DoW to Yugoslavia, but no, SU declared war on France April 1st 1941. I reloaded game, and firstly Germany DoW on Yugoslavia, and then April 3rd SU declared war on France.
Now is May 22nd 1943, and only few times I saw Soviet bombers in April 1941 which bombarded Yugoslavia, and once they sent 2 ships around Britain and lost immediately. We are in virtual war with SU! :rofl:
