This has probably already been suggested, but I would love to see the Akropolis of Athens as a great wonder in the game from the start.
it really shapes the way the city looks irl and it would be a lovely buff for athens(especially AI athens).
I would imagine some diplomatic reputation or research or naval buffs as the wonder-effects...? diplorep would be very nice to represent athens status as a cultural centre among the greek states at the time, even tho it was militarily quite weak.
diplomatic traditions IV would be most fitting i think, it would even help AI-athens to stay alive for a longer time in case it ever becomes indipendent.

Edit: this would, combined with some inventions, make it possible to actually unite the greek city states against bigger outside threats like the diadochi and rome. and doing so in a more diplomatic way would be so much cooler than just plain conquest(like most other nations in the game). the additional diplorep+diplorelations would allow a player controlled athens to reunite the delian league with a lot more diplomatic shenanigans and less conquering

I couldn't agree more. It's strange that the Acropolis of Rhodes is in the game, but the more famous (in modern times anyways) Acropolis of Athens isn't. Especialy considering that Rhodes also gets a second wonder in the form of the Colossus.

And I want The Gates of Isthar or the Tower of Babylon, ideally both. Both in Babylon, but I'd tie the Tower to a Decision akin to "have at least 1 pop of each culture group still existing". The gates should already exist (6th century BC); while they do exist in-game as a relic for a holy site, and its effects are on of the best (-1 Slave surplus) imo, it doesnt do it justice imo, since the Gates of Ishtar were one of the seven world wonders until the Pharos replaced it.

I think the gate exists as a relic that you put in a temple.

It does, but that doesnt do it justice imo.
Brings me to think that some structures - Obelisks in particular come to mind - should be given the Tomb of Alexander treatment, where rather than moving it as a relic you get an event upon conquering the province. "Something this magnificent belongs in our capital!" or something, letting you relocate the structure for a cost. Though that said, moving the entire Gate of Ishtar - as a Relic or otherwise but ESPECIALLY as a Relic - seems a bit ridiculous.

EDIT: Realised in post that having it as a Relic means you can just... take it. And have it spare in your inventory. "Right, what do we have in the treasury... The History of Animals, the sarcophagus of Cyrus, the sword of Alexander, this entire gatehouse, a small statuette of a god..."

I know you are probably right.Maybe though the devs thought of the fact that the gates are irl moved to berlin, so maybe they let us do the same.Pergamon's altar or miletus gate are not given the same treatment though, so idk...
Alternatively, replace the Hanging Gardens with the Gates of Ishtar, and move the Gardens to Nineveh, which seems to have been where they actually were.

On the topic of the Acropolis of Athens for sure a wonder would make sense there. However at the time period of the game Athens was mostly viewed as the "Oxford" of our time, meaning it was a very prestigious city to go and study. So even if not the most useful wonder for a minor I could really see Acropolis as an education wonder for Civic and Oratory.
Technically you could have Plato's academy used for that but if you were to have just one wonder and you would want to go for what Athens was famous for at that moment you should ihmo go for Acropolis and Education.

religious, since it was a temple.

Here are other missing wonders.

It’s bad design that GW use an ordinary building slot. We’ve already proposed a fix:

allow 1 GW in any settlement, 2 in a city and 3 in metropolis.

Then Babylon (should be a Metropolis at start, btw) would start with 2 wonders (Gardens, and Gate of Ishtar and a third would be buildable by decision (Etemenanki)
