These 'core' territories you speak of ceased to belong to the Seleucid Empire when they were conquered by the kingdom of Pontus. Macedon has now fought long and hard to bring down the former foes of the Seleucids, who did not lift a finger to aid us in our struggle. With all due respect, we will not divide our conquests with those who have done nothing to earn a share.

Seleucid has likewise fought long and hard to bring down its foes - Pontus and Egypt. I note that Macedonia likewise did not lift a finger when we were attacked by the foes - in fact it joined them - unlike the more deserving Bosphurus Kingdom,

On a lighter note, I notice the 1.2 patch is out and I have to say a lot of the changes are very welcome.

Personally I would like to continue this save and move to the new patch, what do others think?

There is no reason not to move to 1.2
If we upgrade, I'll tweak my mod to be compatible with the new patch by monday. I didn't have time to look at the changelog yet, so we may not need any mod at all.

ah and before I forget: I won't need a sub next session, I will be able to play

I'm for it. I'm going to miss Macedon's dark blue colour, but otherwise the patch seems like an excellent improvement to an already great game.

The patch seems to be nothing but solid fixes and changes. Can't see any reason not to update.

I believe there was some discussion about provinces you wished to take - before signing the peace i did double check with you whether or not you wished to take those provinces.

Actually, I don't think you asked me for my input, although you did tell me which provinces we would be taking, which is the only reason the situation bothered me so. Some sort of miscommunication? The initial shock of coming into ownership of a province full of Egyptians can be quite distressing, you know, but I've gotten over it now.

In addition, Zimfan has asked if he can join us this evening for which I have said yes. He could play in a co-op pr to fill in one of the minors that have become slightly more playable.

Strono: I will be absent next week as I am on my holidays (to scotland of all places) so I would certainly be looking for a substitute if you would be happy to step in that would be great.

I have some bad news :(
This will be the last session I can play with you guys. I got a new job, and I must work on next 4-5 Monday evenings. Later I may be able to jump in as a sub if you guys will still play this campaign.
I think Strono should play with Egypt after this session if he wants to, as a compensation after we destroyed his country when he was absent. :) If he wants to he can join me today too as a co-op king, to get the hang of playing with Egypt.

That is indeed bad news, but nethertheless with a willing replacement with Strono not necessirily terminal for us at all.

Certainly Strono would be an excellent replacement (considering too that Pontus was a close ally with Egypt at one time).

Well this was a good session, with only a few rehosts.

The war was really exciting, we were a bit unlucky at the beggining of the war with bad dice rolls, I lost like 30-40K soldiers in the first months because of this. In the end we lost the war, I came out from it with quite good terms. 2 poor provinces in the Balkans, 1 not so rich in western Egypt, plus I paid 120Gold to Carthage. First they wanted like 6-7 provinces from me... I'm a whizz at negotiations:D The war was really bloody, all nations came out from it with zero manpower.

As for the peace time, nothing important happened. During this campaign, I only had half assed kings... the one I have now is no expection. 5 in martial, 2-3 diplomacy and 0 finesse. Yeah, he is a real killer. I guess the gods still like Egypt, because with 52% chance we managed to use the omens quite good. For about every 5 tries, 3 succeded. As a result from this, the coffers are filled with gold, the population is growing, and there are few rebellions. I already built all province improvements, so the next ruler of Egypt will not have any problems with money. We have replaced a national idea, so we have +10% tax income now. Stability was quickly raised back to +3. We still have like 800 gold left after all of this.

AS for the diplomacy, there was some succes there too, it seems like The long struggles agains The Selecuid Empire are over. They acknowleged our claims in Syria, and we signed a non intervention and non agression pact. We also got some trade deals from them.
Other than that, they were quiet during the session, but I think the Emperor dreams of conquests. Lets hope he will leave Egyipt's lands alone, as we don't want to give Syria back, but we also don't want to wage wars against them.

I was a bit suprised seeing Rome and Carthage allied, but the Roman player surely knows what he does... at least until Carthagian soldiers are not under the walls of Rome. I think it was a mistake allying with Carthage, as they eat babies :) The roman player said at the end of the session, that he is on the edge of a civil war, all of his generals are disloyal.

Macedonia has lost 2 provinces in Asia Minor, it is not a huge blow, since they managed to hold the straits to themselves, thus their income is still large. We have very good relations with them, with a full alliance, and lots of trade(at least 60% of Egypt's trade income comes from Macedonian routes)

Bosphoran kingdom grew during the years, she has become a major power. Her income is still lagging behind the leading powers, but it is bigger then Rome's. Their Research is quite slow though.

And last, but not least, Carthage. Well what can I say? She is the World's leading power for now... but who knows what will happen in the future.

Bah, figured I should have pushed harder for Libya. :p

With everyone else apparently being happy with the peace deal and Carthaginian manpower low, I figured it was time make a deal.

That was a lot of fun. My first ever mp war. :D

When Feodian first came with the idea of an alliance I figured it was a good idea, as at the least it would help me avoid being on the wrong end of any Punic Wars. Then when the thing with Bosporus came up it seemed reasonable to let them take one of Pontus's provinces, especially as it was noone's core and the Seleucids (only faction other than Macedonia that seemed involved in that part of Anatolia) didn't seem to care one way or another.

I agreed to take their side expecting that I would be lucky to hold back Egypt from my own territory, let alone take the fight to their's. I pretty much learned which troops could be built where as I built up for the war. The dice/Carthaginian troops won the day, though, and by the time the Roman legion that came to help and my own troops had made it to Alexandria, I figured the war was close to over. In the peace settlement I determined to avoid getting any Anatolian provinces like the plague, as it seemed there were enough factions with interests in the area already.

The war was fun, especially that game of chicken around Alexandria when both sides were trying to concentrate forces against the other. So many units ordered to move, then stop, then start moving to a different province, etc. :D I tried to keep my forces divided until they were able to fight the large Egyptian army, to keep attrition as low as possible, not sure how successful I was.

Anyway, I sent a full report of Carthage's position to the permanant player. After some hiccups with a disloyal general with a very large force, I think I managed to fix things up for the next session. Military, economy are both good, and province improvements built everywhere I could. My big regret was not finishing up the war with the Lusitanii, but it has been pretty onesided.
