Yesterday (April 6th) We had a great game to celebrate the release of Utopia. However there is always room for more new friends in our group.

We will be playing today (Friday 07th) and frequently here on after. If you want to join in with us it's very simple and you and any friends you wish to bring are very welcome. I'll try to remember to update this thread with game schedules also.

To participate please join the following group; while this is not a requirement it makes it much easier as when the games are hosted we ask everyone who intends to join the match be in the group chat room.

Also optional but highly recommended is to join our teamspeak server. It is optional and you don't have to do this but it's alot more fun to my view when you can chat whilst playing or even listening to others chat about what they are doing. You don't need a mic to connect either if you'd prefer to just listen.

So what is the Ai difficulty and what speed do u play on. and so on...??
 
AI settings, galaxy type/size, FTL restrictions (if any) etc. varies form game to game most of the time there is a rudimentary voting system in place for the game settings. As for speed it's pretty much always on fast. We do sometimes shove it on fastest for a bit at the start as the initial stages of every game are pretty much the same and it's nice to ...get through that a bit quicker but that is only on smaller games or games limited to high performance players which isn't most of them, we don't play at Normal speed, ever. I'd sooner not bother than play at that speed. We allow "flash pauses" basically brief pauses up to say 5 seconds to react to event or what ever, 1 min pause at the start too for players to do basic setup. Some games are teamspeak only (meaning all players are on teamspeak, address is in the first post) but most are not it's just preferred. The average player count is 10 - 20 I put a soft cap at 20 players as games larger than that I find have performance issues when the games are public. If you need to know anything else let me know.

It is worth noting that the games are all public but still passworded to stop random players trying to hot join throughout the game (The password for the game is always: whale ) joining the steam group is optional too but it is appreciated.

OK so we've done a few private games recently but with 2.0 around the corner we'll be doing another public game. As always the host will have all DLC's but you fine folk don't need to own them to play and use the DLC features.

The time of the game will depend on when the patch for 2.0 is released but the aim is 4pm GMT (5pm Euro, 11am EST) It may of course be later.

A reminder of our rules which are quite simple;

Speed with be fast, if you can n't maintain connection at this speed you will be dropped out, sorry :-(

Teamspeak 3 is STRONGLY requested.
Previously black was not allowed as your primary flag colour as it's a problem for visually impaired players. You can now use black as primary IF your secondary colour is something bright. Double black is NOT ok and you'll be kicked out.
NO duplicate species designs, first come first served on a species design type. If someone has picked that ...aesthetic then you'll need to change.

That's basically it.

These games are always alot of fun and we've not done a public one for a while so I hope to see some new faces.

NOTE: We may use a different ts than the normal server. If so we'll give the info on the day.

PS. PLEASE join the steamgroup first it makes it a lot easier to invite on the day.

How do you prevent Cheating in public Stellaris games? So far I know the host can use cheats within each sessions by loading the games in single player. This ruined my last public game.

You have a point. It's a potential issue in the smaller games that are saved and then continued later. So far as I know it doesn't happen in our group; but you are right in that the potential is there and there's not much to prevent it. I do most of the hosting but can't take responsibility when I don't.

On the bright side though, most games we play in public are one shot wonders; we play the game until completion; This usually means until a player federation has totally dominated the galaxy or the crisis has been beaten. Basically we play until the game feels like it's met it's real conclusion. The advantage here is the public games are not saved and loaded as their done in a single session of about 5 hours.

The main problem we're having at the moment is sync errors which are forcing re-hosts. The amount of these errors since 2.0 is concerning and I accept that one person trying to cheat is one possible cause of this.

As for rules those are posted on the Steam group but I'll repeat them here;


(These may change in certain games)

#1) Teamspeak. Please use it it makes the experience far more pleasant for everyone.

#2) No Pausing unless it's a "flash pause" (meaning 4-5 seconds at the absolute most to react to an event. Do not overuse this.

#3) You may now use black on primary colour IF your secondary color is something bright. Double black is NOT ok.

#4) No duplicate species. If someone is already Human or cute starfish then you'll need to pick something else, first come first served.


The teamspeak thing is more a pushed request but with the sync errors it's more vital than normal as getting everyone back with a hotjoin isn't practical without ts. On our game yesterday we lost 3 players in this manor bringing our player count down from 18 to 15.
