I load up the game and I can play my cities

Actual Result​

I load up the game and there are no saves at all. It's as if I just purchased the game.

I am using steam cloud for my saves, and haven't played the game in a while. When I check the steam cloud it looks like all my saves are just completely gone, is there any way to recover them?

Neither this game nor Steam deliberately delete files there. Indeed there's no way provided to delete saves in the Steam cloud except inside the game.

They definitely do not show here?

I have not played the game in a while, it was showing a cloud sync error in my library for a bit but that went away before I tried to boot it up to try out the new patch. Steam remote storage only shows storing 2 bytes of data in 2 files. Not even my autosaves are in there. Like I said it's as if I had just bought the game.

Are you sure it was with this Steam account you were playing before?

Local saves are in
...\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines\saves\
(To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer)

Yes it has always been the same steam account, and both that folder and the one at \AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\Saves have no files. I'm assuming it's a steam cloud issue since it was supposed to be synced there but I have no idea if there's any way to recover the files

I cannot account for files successfully saved in the Steam cloud not being there any more. It is so rare I don't recall a single other case.

One slim hope is to look under ...\Steam\userdata\<SteamID>\255710\remote\ , which is where cloud saves are written first. They then get synced up to Steam when you exit the game.

That aside, you could contact Steam support, but so far as I know they do not keep copies of deleted files.
