Please please please allow explicitly assigning certain weapons to certain visual slots on mechs. It looks sooooo weird when my Griffin auto assigns the SRM2 to the shoulder launcher and the SRM6 to the torso mount!
There are numerous other instances where it just looks so wrong with the way they are assigned.
Alternatively at least order them so that if you do something like always order them from biggest to smallest it looks good (or vice versa).
Yet another alternative, allow re-ordering of weapons within a location as a zero cost option (like when you rename a mech).

With the Griffin specifically, I've noticed this a lot. Have you tried playing around with the order installed into the side torso to see if it changes the visual?

I'm pretty sure it does as I do the same thing all the time on other mechs, but you can only change the order if you change something else otherwise the system doesn't count it as a change when you close the mech bay.
Actually I just had a thought, it might be sufficient to move one pip of armour from one location to another, it's instant but it might work, I'll have to try it!

Here's how I got around my Thunderbolt putting the SRM-2 into the big shoulder-mounted drum, and the LRM-15 in the torso:
  1. Remove both weapons. Save the loadout.
  2. Install the LRM-15. Save the loadout.
  3. Install the SRM-2. Save the loadout.
It's tedious, but I've found that even changing other stuff doesn't always make the weapons go into the order you've dragged them into.

I haven't checked if it is the case in BATTLETECH, but in MWO the weapons got a "slot assignment" the first time they were mounted on a 'Mech, and that assignment never changed. So in that game if you had a SRM-2 in the Thunderbolt drum, it would always go there and nowhere else. The workaround to that was to sell that "tainted" SRM-2 (or at least mount it somewhere where it didn't pop into an unwanted slot) and mount another (after mounting a LRM-15 in the drum, of course).
