Its April 1945, I have the Japanese fleet of over 100 vessels including 2 SUper BBs and 7 Cvs blockaded by a force of 3 Cvs, 1 Fast BB and 1 Super BC along with 6 CLs and 10 DD, The jap fleet comes out with 3 CVs, 1 BB, 2 CA, 1 CL, and 14 DD and they annialate my carrier force even though its superior in tech and unit model, my CVs are model 7 and theirs are model 3.
What am I doing wrong??????????

Bad leader?
CAG of a very old model, lacking range to attack allied CV Taskforce?
Not sufficient research put into Naval doctrines?
-> Some CV/CAG-related doctrines may be in the Air doctrines section

Don't you have some land-based naval or tactical bombers to soften-up the allied TF?

I'm the Americans, I had 2 Naval wings, 1 understrenght Strat, and 1 tac.
There CAG are one model more advanced but my CVs are 2 ahead. Does one model of CAG relly make that much difference?
The other thing I don't get is that the Japanese are going carrier crazy, they just commisioned a CV 8 while and it takes them like no time to build them at all, and I'm technologicallyy advanced in shipbuilding.
Does anyone else have experince with this?
Thanks for the input

Yes. If the enemy, due to the superior range of its CAGs, can stay out of firing range of your own ships.
