Hey there,

I'm playing with Vietnam/Da Nang right now in the year 1882. For data see Screenshot.

My plan was to conquer a little bit of south east asia (check) and form a more modern country... not checked...

My current laws (see screenshot).

I got Universal Suffrage in a revolution. And getting Laissez faire was more luck than skill...

My biggest problem in all those years was and is, that the IG Landowners is way too strong. both in autocracy and with the right to vote.
So I have several questions.
1.) Why are they that strong? My monarch is always a Landowner. And his heir too. Is that the main reason? They only have 65.3 Pops. The rural folk has 724k Pops. So why aren't they much stronger? And how do I manage it, to make the Landowners weaker.
2.) I see, that wealth is a factor. Which laws influence this? I see, that tenant farmers gives a +25% bonus. But how to change it? Is it a possible strategy, to change the land reform law before changing the economic system law? Maybe that is my mistake in this savegame.

3.) How do I decrease the turmoils in the conquered states? Is it right, that the police force and the Violent Suppression decree only have influence on the effects of turmoils, but not the % itself? There are states, I conquered 20-30 years before, and they still have around 30% turmoil.

4.) How to stop the coup of the landowners? They want to have all the way back from Universal suffrage to absolutism...

Thank you for your help and good luck in your own games!

Your slavery and bureaucracy laws are strengthening them, for one.

If you hover over their clout, you see breakdowns of where it derives from. There might also be high-ranking generals who skew the values

In general, usually you either build up the church as a quick counter (unsure whether you started on freedom of conscience or not), they can very quickly be strengthened by some production methods and taking over (religious) schooling or you just wait it out while your society is modernised.
As your urban core strengthens and capitalists take over the role of urban magnates, which the aristocracy used to play in the hinterlands, and as ever more people are politically empowered from the wealth gained by gainful employment, the balance of power shifts.

The only thing I can add is that Tenant Farming is not enough to maintain Landowner power, so don't sweat about it. Get rid of Slavery in all its forms and modernize the Bureaucracy. Once you do, its up to you to get rid of peasants as soon as possible. You can keep Tenant Farms until you can pass Commercialized Agriculture instead, it won't be enough to save them.
