Ambitious relationship penalty for vassals not working for AI lieges

A vassal under you who possesses the Ambitious trait will give him or her a -50 relationship penalty towards you, but this same penalty is not working for the AI.

Here, you can see that both the above characters have the Ambitious trait (it's covered by the tooltip, but should still be visible). However, the relationship penalty isn't showing up when checking their relationship with their lieges. I'm guessing this bug is why AI empires tend to blob so much.

I confirm this. But to be honest the -50 penalty does not apply even if they are your vassal. It doesn't work at all. Strange thing, the opposite trait "content" is working fine.

Hm? It most certainly does. Perhaps you're looking at vassals of vassals?

No, I remember that in my first game as a count I had a bishop (direct vassal) with ambitious trait and we didn't have a -50 relation penalty.

Ah, I see. Baron-level vassals are different in a number of ways; they'll also never rebel, except for a 5% chance when you revoke their titles. Higher-tier vassals, though, will get that -50 relations effect if they're ambitious.

But as I said before, it's strange that also a baron-level vassal in my present game has the "Content" trait and a +50 in relations.

Yeah. I imagine it's just that they don't want barons causing you much trouble, or denying you tax income based on something out of your control.

You will only get a penalty if the ambitious vassal wants something that you have. I suspect that in both cases above you don't have anything "of value". To be eentirely sure I would like to take a look at the savegame.
