Yeah i saw a good Youtube Video in Alterative History Hub about what might be if Europe would use the knowlegde by the Vikings about North America more. It is an intersting scenario and it is a what if thing based on some historical background because yeah the Vikings were there. So maybe this scenario is interesting, even yeah the map and the characters would be even more bigger, but could get interesting because the Aztecs or the Sunset Invasion would be erm "more dynamic".

But i think it would be more for a DLC,

I would love it if they included Greenland, Newfoundland and small bits of Labrador and Nova Scotia, as part of some future DLC. Similar to how they expanded the map east slightly in CK2 in later DLCs to include Tibet. Just some extra flavour for Viking and potential Amerindian playthroughs. Nothing major that would take away the primary focus of the Crusader Kings title, of medieval life, politics and war in the Old World. This could also open the door to have a "colonization" mechanic, which would be fitting to show the settlement of Shetland, Faroe Islands and Iceland as well, which were not inhabited (or at least extremely sparsely inhabited by Celtic monks in certain cases) before Norse sailors discovered them, and might be a useful mechanic for potential mods too.

I surely hope not. They need to concentrate on established map, not having a barebones map of the world, with civilisations that had nothing to do with feudal kingdoms.

Yeah, Henrik mentioned something about cutting off what didn't work during CKII and I can just imagine Sunset Invasion was at the top of that list.

I'd be surprised if we'll ever see the New World in CKIII.

The only time I'd think to see the New World in CK3 is if someone decides to make a CK3 version of After the End.

Honestly considering Crusader Kings is focused on... crusaders and kings, so european/Mediterranean region. Honestly imho india is kind of beyond the scope of what the game should be but that's just me. More stuff is good but the title doesn't imply that much about regions.

Honestly might've been better if it was called Dynasty Kings or something. Since if anything the focus is much more on dynasties than crusades or kings even.

Or if they made a pre-Columbian Americas overhaul mod...

As much as i love pre columbian cultures, i dont want to see them in ck3, i prefer them to focus on the old world as America its too damn big.

I wouldn't mind if the Americas were included. Now I also understand that this is not to everyone's taste but I personally would love to see something as fascinating as the pre-Colombian Americas taken on in my favorite Paradox game series.

A shame that Paradox don't make smaller games any longer or they could do a game set in pre-Colombian Americas, or at least Mesoamerica and let it be based on either CK3 or Imperator engine so that we could get some Mesoamerican goodies from Paradox also outside of EU4.

What didn't work about Sunset Invasion? It was supposed to be a fantasy invasion that threatened the Western side of the map, like the Mongol invasion was a threat to the Eastern side, and I think it succeeded pretty well at that.

Yeah it came just into my mind after ihave seen the alternative history mod video, and the speculations and pros and cons if an earlier situation and the colonies might be possible. So i used that scenario as just idea and what could happen when for this thread. But then it would get too extreme i would imagine. But we know barely anything and in CK2 it would no anything without any naval stuff besides using boats for transports.

So that thread and my starting post was just about bringing awareness and how it "might" could work, in a stor or logal explanation besides in balance and for the map i doubt it would be useful. But since we know Paradox added the Gamerules when they were already working on CK3 and they know the CHina debates in the board, and the Amercia stuff might be some kind of western mirror like stuff. No clue if they would use it wth game rules. Sunset invasion would be like suddenly the aztec appear, might be in a more slowly and dynamic way it might be theoretical (!) less fantasy like, based on the scenario of the video i have linked. Biut somehow i doubt it might be useful. But I just want to bring the idea up, even i know now i wil get burned at the stake. And it is totally okay, we all know Sunset Invasion is a controversal DLC ;)

Sunset Invasion worked and i still find it rather fun. It's also completely optional to buy and to play even if you have it installed.

But it's the eternal discussion in video games where some people hate it when others have fun with stuff they don't personally like, so they just want it removed.
