What are some good strategies for the US of A?

You have any thoughts on the US of A Mr. Bigglesworth?

That's easy

Build some units early with early research of infantry and artillery techs to get your units up to decent and protect against axis invasion. Stay out of any hassles and watch your economy grow. Research everything under the sun using your disgustingly huge economy, then when you are about ready to enter the war, build about 300 ic worth of units and just crush the axis under the weight of your obscene industrial production.

Honestly, what strategy does a US of A player need?

What if the Soviets aren't cooperating with you OR the UK falls before you get in the war?

If the UK actually falls then they were morons. If the Axis and Russia are allied, then you are in trouble. Any normal game changes drastically as soon as the USA enters. The world is soon awash in a sea of American Units.

Last game we played, UK (varak) and I decided on a containment/harassing policy against Japan, all the while waiting for the perfect moment to invade Germany. We did this because Japan doesn't really have the IC to research AND build a lot, it's either one or the other, and UK and I were able to get him hurting for convoys enough that he had to divert a significant portion of his IC to building transports. It seemed to work, as I think Japan thought he was my first target, and though Germany knew of my hidden build-up in UK (50+ divisions, 30+ of them armored), I don't think he thought it was as big as it really was. If he had known, he wouldn't have invaded USSR when he did, as my tanks were rolling into Berlin and UK's were into Paris before he knew I had landed.

Our invasion of Europe consisted of 10-15 UK divisions landing near Brest in France, and the 50+ US divisions landing in NW Germany. UK was to liberate France, while USA drove hard to Berlin, catching the German army between USA and USSR.

In a three alliance game, the USA can not only not let Germany get too strong, but also not let USSR get too strong. You can't have the communists liberating France, and you have to be able to meet them on an equal footing in Europe, because you don't want to have to fight them.

Ha ha, you fool! You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia", but only slightly less well known is this - "Never go in against a Sicilian, when death is on the line!" ~ The Princess Bride
