My first AAR.
This campaign shall begin in 1066 with the Danish King "Svend Estridson Knytling". Born in 1019, Married to Gunnhild Sveinsdottir of Ladir(Deceased).
Svend has had many years of peaceful rule, his sons however. Had been 'requesting' land of their own to rule over. Seeing as how the rest of the world looked down upon his own sons not ruling over their own tracts of land. Svend conscripts a total of 900 troops in Halland and boards them on ships to the untamed lands of "Finland", while taking personal command of the troops to 'cleanse' the lands of Finland of their heretical ways... Deus Vult!
Days before the troops land in Finland, Sweden has an interesting proposal to the Danish king. He offers an alliance, seeing it as in a long termed intrest Svend welcomes the Swedish king claiming themselves kin.
The Battle of Finland
The Heretics of Finland meet the King's forces head on with little dicipline and numbers. The skirmishing last between May 3-28 of brutal fighting. The Finnish commander is forced to retreat back to his hold, with the Danish army tailing behind him. 105 Brave Danish soldiers died during this battle.
During the chaos of the seige, Svend takes advantage of the time and slays his bastard son and court holder Bjorn Svendson.
The Siege lasted from May 28 1067 to April 1 1068 and ended with the slaying of the pagan 'ruler'. Knud Svendson is reinstated as the ruler of Finland and the troops of Halland return home, but before Knud can be sent to Finland the ruler of the island Bornholm claims Finland as his own. Svend demands he gives the title up but, is refused. Svend launches ships from Fyn to obliterate this man's control of finland and relinquish himself as the ruler of Bornholm. The Bornholm defence force was of 127 troops while the attack force from Fyn was 864 large. Using the defensive terrain against the attackers, Bornholm somehow defeats the much larger force and massacuring 800 danish soldiers. Svend is in complete shock as he retreats from the island wounded both in body and in pride, upon his return he calls upon his son Benadikt to lead the troops of skane to destroy him! Benadikt conscripts 2646 soldiers.
When the troops of Skane land, the find little resistence and seige the city. Benadikt presumes that he has retreated to Finland. He was wrong, the troops lead a failed supprise attack that managed to pick off 20 men from the attack force. After having his capital raized Svend is offered peace on the terms that Svend's claim on finland would be recognized. Wanting retrebution of the souls slain on the island Svend claims total occupation of finland and Bornholm. Finland is easily taken and sieged in a matter of a month. Peace is finaly restored within Denmark itself.
Benadikt was granted the claim 'count of Bornholm' while his younger brother Knud gets Finland. Still recovering from the civil war, Svend's fourth eldest son Olaf has pregnated a maidservent. Outraged, Svend gives Olaf the beating of his life.
Having too many sons and not enough land, Svend considers invading the Finnish pagans but, deciding against it for their treasury is still recovering.
Olaf openly challenges Svends authority and is exiled from Denmark. Aug 10th 1073, a message from the pope comes. He requests a Bishop joins the court of Denmark. Svend happily agrees, being a dvout christian. Also in 1073, Denmark invents the composite bow, a milestone in egineering. Found nowhere else in the world besides Denmark.
In January 1075, Svend has massed enough funds to begin a war on all of finland, he recruits troops from Skane, Halland, and Finland. Totaling more then 5000 men. Before war could be declared on the Pagans of Finland, the pagans of Mecklemburg attacked Svend's loyal vassal, Svend retreats troops from finland to destroy the heretics and defend his homeland... Putting Denmark in debt. Svend lands troops in Werle while his forces from Mainland Denmark push the heretics from the other side.

The pope has a call to arms just in time for Denmark to answer, being as they are currently fighting paganism. Welre falls with few casualties to Denmark and many to the Mecklemburgians. The composite bow serves them well in this battle destroying many before they can get close enough to fight. Shortly after the battle of Werle, Holstein is attacked.
The Battle of Holstein
The danish defenders have the upper hand as they are defending and not attacking, allows better usage for their bows. Unfortunatly they are flanked and are forced to retreat from more Mecklemburgian reinforcements. Just after the battle of Holstein, the pagans of Finland attack Knud, being outnumbered he asks for help. Already finacialy outstretched with their current war, they send the troops of Sjaelland. Welre is taken and the other cities fall quickly from the invasion force of the east. June 15 1075, the Pope makes a wise decision. The danish bishop is elected as the new Pope. Denmark becomes the Papal leader. The final battle with the Mecklemburgian has begun had Rostock.

Svend can only pray that his forces are triumphant, for this battle will tell the outcome of it all. It was a brutal battle for both sides, 1161 brave Danes died in this great battle, while taking with them 2661 heretics and winning them the war. Once again, another pagan begins to bully the Danes around. The Luthianians attack Bornholm causing Denmark to join them. Denmark accepts peace with the tribe of Mecklemburg after annexing 5 german coastal provinces. Svend leads an army from Skane to destroy the Lithuanians. The battle of Kurs is a small one with few casualties for the danes.
Denmark gives up their holdings in Finland to the swedish who destroyed the heretics while we were busy. Knud has joined the Pagans in their beliefs and now shall be killed and treated as a heretic.... But the Swedish can have their ice and woods... We find more.. Rich lands in the south and east.
Erik, Svend's fith eldest son was given the title count of Kurs. The Danes look forward to many more years of peace...
