This won't be a proper AAR, I wasn't sure which forum would be best to post this in but I wanted to share the game I have had so far and how many oddities have happened that have come together to make an interesting view. I've not played the game properly in maybe 4 years, so all of this may be 'normal' but to me it was a pleasant and irritating (world tension!) situation. (I have all of the dlc installed)
I am playing as the USA, attempting to go mildy Facist to get the Cuba and Mexico events, then back to Democracy for the factory achievement, mostly just to learn the basics again without having to be too involved.
Britain - unaligned, no faction - have done nothing else.
Colonies- broke away from Britain - SAfrica, Australia & NZ are left in the commonwealth
India - non aligned, no faction
Canada - democratic - broke away from commonwealth and requested I join their north american faction - just us two as members.
Spain - Facist - 4way civil war, Nationalists won. They created the 'Latin bloc', inviting Portugal & Italy into it.
Italy - Facist, Latin bloc - Took Albania, nothing else.
Portugal - non aligned, latin bloc
Poland - still exists! Non aligned, Miedzymorze (all baltics) - gave up danzig in 1939
Baltics - still exist! Lithuania gave up Memel to Germany
Republic of Turkey - had a civil war against Turkey, won it, became (revolutionary? Turkey), reinstalled the sultan and became the Ottoman Sultanate.
Greece - Became Provisional Democratic Greece (communist)
Germany - Non aligned, had a civil war with itself and overthrew Hitler, then restored Willhelm II, then created the central powers - hasn't gone to war, didn't take Austria or Czech.
Hungary - Non aligned, invited Habsburg prince and told Austria to join them (I thought it'd be the other way around!) and now Hungary owns all of Austria.
Japan - non aligned
Soviet Union - Communist, had a war with Russia, beat them and.. nothing much else happened.
Communist China - Communist, in comintern.
non-communist China - non aligned, in comintern....
Romania, communist, comintern
France - Democratic, no faction (17% democratic, 39% unaligned, 44% facist)?? - Have done nothing else
Mexico - non aligned, had a civil war and won.
Rest of Europe - non aligned, no faction, all alive and doing nothing.
The Japanese went to war with China in mid 1940 as the first war of the game
China started to lose and joined the comintern, bringing in Russia and they began winning.
Shortly following this the Ottomans went to war with Greece, Greece started winning and the Ottomans joined the central powers, bringing them all in. (so we now have the german empire, austro hungary, bulgaria and ottomans on one side of a war (WW1 much?
)
Shortly following that, the now-losing Japan joined the central powers, which brought them all in against the soviet union (and Romania)
Greece then joined the comintern and brought the two wars together.
After all of this, world tension is only at 23%, at the end of 1940! There has been seriously nearly no fighting or war mongering!! I wanted it to be 35% to push for Cuba but I can't do anything!
I am very curious as to if France becomes vichy and joins the latin bloc, or what the latin bloc may do. I am also curious as to what eastern Europe or Britain is going to do in all of this. Nearly every country is non-aligned, nearly every country went the monarchist gentle, gentle route and i've never seen such a thing.
