annexation and other irritating things i don't know how to do

Hello All...I have been reading all the posts I can in order to figure out how to play this game as the manual/tutorial is terrible. I am playing as russia and have followed the posts on strategy seen here.
I am playing on normal with the AI as weakling and I have second place locked up after 100 years. However, I have done it by beating everyone I see with a club that I come into contact with. I have tried peaceful annexation.......I have tried Forceful annexation but to NO avail.
I have seen on posts the ideal way to annex politically...but could someone PLEASE in laymans terms explain what has to be dome to annex a whole nation by force, as I have tried everything I can think of to get that damn button to light up!!!!!and also I have D/L the new IGC to my desktop. by applying it will it overwrite all the files in the game? or will it show up as a separate scenario that I can choose to play....
and last but not least...how can a person that is computer stupid play any nation I want.........thanks folks

To annex by force (in war) you have to conquer all provinces (including colonies). When you make peace using the dip screen you will get a message telling you you have won a devasting victory and can annex them (you should see that you have 7 stars). Some nations in the original game are not annexable (the major powers like France, England. They can be nmade so in the IGC, read the read me)The separate annex button on the dip screen alliance options is for peaceful annexation

The new ICG will overwrite selected files. It will show up as another scenario option that says IGC. Be sure to read all the read me, you may need to downlaod a new Java fix to get it work (and you should be able to just follow the directions for that at the MS website, you don't need to be a techie)

If you have the new IGC and apply it correctly you run a config program before you start Eu and select which nations you want. This is in the IGC readme.

And remember, YOU have to offer them peace to annex.
If they offer you peace, decline it. Then offer them
and you will be given the choice to annex. If they
refuse, wait a month or so. If the country has allies,
they may refuse annexation thinking their buddies
will come to the rescue. Maybe even puttin' the
smackdown on them may help a little.

Be patient and don't get frustrated. There's lots
to learn, but it is a rewarding experience.

Also, make shure you have force annex turned ON before you start the game ...

arrrggghhhhhhhhhhh............now i know what that is for
i thought forced annexation was for doing it the easy way...kinda like when you can check auto place merchants.........thanks..lol

That'd be easy
