Help Please....

I'm playing Poland-Lithuania in a multi-player game with my brother(who's playing Austria). After fighting a war against Curland, the Tutonic Knights, Hensatic League and others I occupied Curland. I thought since I had Curlands one and only province and after successfully sieging the city I would be able to Annex them. But the option was not available. I only saw a small army of theres in one of my territories but it was doing nothing and I didn't see them controlling any of my territories. In frustration I accepted indemnities from them and they and their allies dropped out of the war. I believe I acquired their world maps when I took Curland and saw that they had a very far away trading post in Africa. Now, I read the manual(and believe me that was laborious) but saw nothing definitive that states that a trading post has to be destroyed or taken before a State can be Annexed.

So there it is folks anyone with insight that could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Trade posts do not count for annexation. Colonies do.

Check if this far away province is not a colony. If so, you have to control it to ask for annexation.

Never the same it's in there, check again.
I'm guessing it's in the Peace treatys & war dammages section in UK/US manual.
