Annexation Not Allowed

Currently playing as Turkey in a GC. War was declared on the Hedjaz by Aden. Aden's ally Tunisia joins the fight, and I'm an ally of The Hedjaz and I honour the alliance.

As I have no way of reaching Aden, I decide to concentrate on the Tunisians. With the few ships I have I land a small force in Tunisia, while the Tunisians do the same thing to me in Albania. I kick the butts of the expeditionary force, and besiege Tunisia.

I observe (and deal with) the bouncing army phenomenon in Albania/Macedonia/Hellas, and the siege ends in a successful storming of the city of Tunisia.

(In the meatime, Tunisia has been trying like mad to make a white peace with me, but I've declined every time). Now, previously, when I had conquered the last remaining province of a country, the Offer Peace, Demand Tribute menu has given me the option/advice to Annex the country.

Why doesn't it do that here? I have to settle for financial gain, and, not knowing how much money they have, I settle for 250D, which they pay in full :(

Still, why couldn't I annex Tunisia? Is it because we were both allies of parties at war? or because Tunisia is not the leader of an alliance?

IF you've conquered all their lands you should always be given the option to annex, they might refuse because of the reasons you gave above (in a strong alliance, etc etc) but you should be give the option.
So the only thing I can think of is that they still control some land. You're sure they haven't besieged and taken over some other land somewhere, a colony somewhere ? I often turn on the political map and then do a zoom out to see all the provinces color-coded....

Nope, as you have conquered the Tunisian capital, you have got their maps. Therefore, you can find their last province.

Perhaps this province is just controled by them, not possessed (ie as if they had taken control of Albania from you) ?
Carefully check all this, you'll eventually find out (unless you're playing with annex off :D )
 
ahaaaa, I may have overlooked that. Unfortunately, I can't quite remember the sequence of occasions. They did take Albania, but I took it back before making peace with them... I think. Yeah, I must have, as I was dealing with the bouncing army (which of course ceased as soon as peace erupted).

But I'm starting to think that may have been the reason after all...

Can you Annex a Super power ?

I OWERRUNNED. RUSSIA took all territory. Still no annexation why !!!!
 
Because the game doesn't allow you to annex the majors without editing some of the game files.

Have a look around the forum for similar threads with annex in the title, and you'll find how and what to edit.
