Some great news. Jamie550's work on making a map creator utility looks like it has borne fruit. Still a couple of tweaks apparently need to be made, but it now looks very likely that Xie and I will be able to develop the Clio map as a freeware download thanks to Jamie's hard work.
So, have you started working on it in MapUtility? Anxious to see results ;)

Is it too late to fix provinces in Kamerun according to the Treaty of Fez? I'm of course speaking of this.

Given that most of the land gained at Fez (for 3 years) was very low population jungle land, it would be a waste of IDs to add more provinces to Gabon, Middle Congo, Ubangi and Chad to model this perfectly. It can be approximated fairly closely via event by giving GER certain provinces as they exist.

Yeah I know but I was thinking of the strip that seperated Equatorial africa from Gabon.

Yay!

Ah, that explains Prinz Wilhelm's thread.

about as accurate as the current Vicky map, otherwise we'd have to add +1 province each to Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina to do true justice to it, which could cause issues later with things like immigration balance, since all 3 would become 5-province states.

Actually, state size has very little to do with immigration receivership, so its more the fact that Cherokee don't last long enough, and the South's population doesn't need further subdivision.

I am curious to see how you'll manage to make heligoland clickable

we have name tags (like the box with Heligoland in it) that will be clickable to access info on the province. We are using these for many of the smaller island and coastal provinces (Gibraltar, Macao, Melilla, the small islands in the Caribbean etc)

That is very smart! :)

Is there any chance to add provinces like Monaco, San Marino, Andorra or Liechtenstein? I know, maybe the three last are too small and landlocked and nameplates couldn't be used, but Monaco is placed on the seaside and it would be nice to play as powerful principality of Monaco. Of course if it is possible to add province in this 'block' and you have any free id.

Looking at the map of Europe so far, I notice Faroe Islands will be a province, but not Orkney or Shetlands. Will it be possible to add them, or will there be too many provinces? Perhaps add them as one province, because of the small population. And how about adding one more province called the Hebrides or the Western Isles (by carving it out from Inverness). :)

Had not planned due to province density limits in Europe (same reason why for now Shetland and Hebrides are also not separate).

Hi :) I have a couple of newbie questions about this great map.

1) When will it become available for downloading?

2) Can it be used as is with the VIP:R?

3) Will you place resources on the provinces?

4) Last but not least, in case you will have resources, any chance of a pic with them?

Since I'm not part of the time, I can't tell you these things for sure. But as far as i know this is the answers to your questions.

1) at least a year from now

2) not at first, maybe later

3)do you mean new resources? if yes I don't think so

4) so no to this one ;)

1 - hopefully less than a year, now that Jamie has his map tool working, still a few issues to work through and time constrains on my and Xie's part with real life slows things down, but I think maybe by the end of the year we should be set to release.

2 - no this will be developed for vanilla first, then if player reaction is positive there will be a discussion whether to undertake the massive amount of reworking that will be needed to make VIP compatible with this map. If VIP does decide to do it, it means all other areas of work on VIP will come to a screeching halt for at least one addition of VIP, perhaps more.

3 & 4 - we will have resources just as the original map has. no new resources though, but the ones that come with vanilla V:R (and here let me restate this again, Clio will be V:R compatible ONLY, not pre-Revolutions Victoria compatible).
