Argh... this is really becoming frustrating: Grahamule and I used to play MP EU a lot, and it was good. However, he went on a trip over the summer, and in his absence, I went on a massive spyware purge on my computer and killed a huge quantity of things, and downloaded some mods and stuff for EU. When he came back, we attempted to play, and for whatever reason, it didn't work. I blamed it on the mod I had downloaded, and went through a lot of work trying to fix it: uninstalling, reinstalling, repatching, and everything like that. However, this didn't work either, which I blamed on IGC not patching correctly, and the issue was eventually forgotten.

Now, though, Grahamule has gotten Victoria, and though we had high hopes for MP possibilities, the same thing happened. "There is no game host found at *such and such IP*" I don't know what's going on, neither does he. So, we have come to the forum for help.

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening? Neither of us have problems with single-player, and he is able to join others' MP games (he can in both games, I have not tried to join any other people's Vicky games yet). Could I have inadvertently crippled my computer during the spyware purge, or are our games probably just a bit incompatible? (we tried to patch everything the same, but could have missed things)

Thanks, anyone who can help. :) :(

are you sure there isnt something blocking your ports? You have played EU MP so you are aware of how to set your router, etc but maybe something happend with direct play when you were messing with spyware, that is the only thing I can think of. I would try the direct play test program, and also try running Vicky MP and while you are go to a site where you can check if certain ports are open, like grc.com, and check to make sure something isnt keeping the proper ports closed or stealth. If that doesnt help I dont know what to tell you.

no game found, is typical a firewall issue for either one of you.

I happened to have similar problems, and installed service pack 2, but disabled the firewall and such. No such gaming can be done for any Paradox games, yet everything else is peachy.

you mean you can play paradox games online when you upgrade to sp2?

I don't think I've downloaded SP2, but I too left for a week during the summer, so it could have been downloaded by my mom (wait, when was SP2 released?)

That sounds like it could be it, at any rate, or my firewall isn't turning itself off properly (but like Yaiko, I can play Call of Duty in multiplayer and such and it's all fine  )

I'll try to restate what I said, all my other online gaming is completely unhindered, but I cannot play any Paradox games whatsoever. I can't MP with HoI or anything else, even with the firewall option disabled and I have followed other links in the forums and have all the proper ports open. Not to mention I -used- to be able to play HoI MP. Somehow it all broke.

We finally got it to work as far as connecting goes (although it always seems to crash on like January 4  ), which I got to work by killing anything that I though could be interfering, i.e. disabling McAfee firewall and completely disabling anything that had AOL in front of it. Dunno whether that's why it worked or if it's just fickle like that.

mcaffe doesst work, i hate it, it cost much of my resourse so i always disable the viruscan, spamkiller and abuse control, i only use the firewall of mcaffe, also i cant and i wont install the xp sp2, but my router never allows me to play whit paradox, so i called my service provider and asked for advice on how to fix it so i could play, the told me to create a vpn conectio and now i can play, even still i cant get into vnet, i can only play by ip. and i dont know how does vpn actually works.
thats my experience.
