I've been lucky enough to be able to play without too much trouble so far, which has allowed me to enjoy the great story and nice gameplay improvements from KH1. However, it has come to the point where I'm finally running into game breaking issues.

My System specs.

W7 x64 Ultimate
CPU E8400 @3.6GHz
GPU NVidia GTX550Ti (drivers 290.53 beta, PhysX 9.11.1107)
Ram 8Gb

I can't launch the game from any of the three CoreTech_x64 .exe. KingArthurII and KingArthurII_AutoSetup don't work either. All these five .exe give me a "The application failed to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application" error window. As this error seems NET Framework related, I made sure I have the proper and latest x64 version installed. I've also reinstalled DirectX, as well as my C++ libraries (x64 version). No change.

I can, however, launch the game from any of the three CoreTech_x86 .exe. Now, the 10 and 11 versions of the .exe give me a lot of graphic bugs in game, as seen in these two screenshots:

Accordingly, I've been playing the game through CoreTech2_x86.exe since it is the only .exe that doesn't seem to be failing me.

Also, I'm encountering the same low level of performance as others, and beside disabling Ambiant Occlusion which gives a good +10 fps when turned off, nothing else has made my fps go above 30 on the Campaign map and 22-25 in battle (it's more often 15-18). Battles could even drop down to 5-7 with rain and lots of spells cast around (see my settings below).

Now, for no reason (beside me turning my computer off and back on a few hours later), my game has now lost a good 10 fps accross the board, while the campaign map is awfully choppy to the point I did not even bother to keep playing.

Did the Caracallas cast a spell on me for kicking their ass or what?! Seriously though, this is getting annoying, and I'd really like to hear form the devs on those issues.

EDIT: I don't seem to be allowed to attach a txt file, and posting it all here is too long. God I love this forum. You can download my DxDiag from my DropBox account.

I have tried all the suggested workarounds: "Run as administrator", compatibility modes, re-installing all the different files located in \InstallUtils, you name it.

BTW, I meant to attach my DxDiag to my original post. Fixed.

Hi Kate,

Yes, I've tried that, as well as compatibility modes. With all the different files located in the \InstallUtils folder, and with all the different .exe in the main game folder.

I suggest that any of you having a problem: i) launching the game, ii) running the game or iii) corrupted menu/game text do the following:

A -
1) Run the STEAM VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE option, in the local Files TAB.
2) You can get to this by selecting the menu item, from your list of STEAM games and right-clicking on it, to select PROPERTIES.
See attached.

B -
Once this is done, manually RUN the items in the \InstallUtils folder, as mentioned by Neocore_Kate that is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\kingarthurii\InstallUtils
- PhysX_9.10.0513_SystemSoftware.exe
- vcredist_x64_SP1.exe
- vcredist_x86_SP1.exe

Try to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, these files:
- WindowsMedia-KB942423-x64-INTL.exe
- WindowsMedia-KB942423-x86-INTL.exe

Though most likely they wont work.

And Run DirectX for good measure, though I didnt myself.

C -
Run the STEAM verify cache util again, for good measure.

D -
Try running the game again.

Report back if you have any success. It worked for me, first time round I had 48% bad files, then 13%. I dare say that if I ran it again Id probably have to get 5% of the files again, to make the game work.

I've done A, B, C and D countless times. Reinstalling the game (with full removal of the folder inside steam), reinstalling DirectX, Checking the cache, you name it. Nothing helped.

In fact, it went from good enough to unplayable for no apparent reason. When I launched my game last Sunday morning I had lost over 10 fps in both the campaign map and the battle map, and the game suddenly became choppy.

If I don't see anything coming to solve this before release date, I'm getting a refund from Steam. Which is a shame considering how much of a gem this game is and how well polished it can be in other areas, but I'm getting tired of paying for games that won't run properly.

Nevertheless, thank you for your input 2Coats, I appreciate.

Out of interest have you tried to unplug your internet cable (once youve started the game) and disable the AV & FIREWALL?
make sure youve activated them before going back online.

Its a long shot but Ive had FW AV s/w that impacts performance, even if exception rules are created for the game.
