Well, to focus on facts. What version of HOI do you use? If you haven't added any (official) update, you should consider this to start with.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.

hi sorry ,

been away I tries everything you sugested and still it froze, please anymore ideas?

Given the reactions in a similar thread in the bug reporting forum, it seems that there is a problem, newly introduced with patch 1.06, where the system freezes when France tries to take control of Vichy France. This seems to happen a lot in 1941.

Since I haven't played a HoI 1.06 game yet that produced a similar outcome, I cannot verify it. But it seems that this particular occurance creates a problem deep inside the PC, either on the AGP interface, the video driver or DirectX, as the game code itself cannot cause a complete system freeze. When the game code comes in an endless loop (which has happened in the past with previous patch versions), one can still press ctrl-alt-delete and come back in the desktop.

Ringworm is that the situation in your game?

Let's let the bug forum thread continue and deal with this then since it would appear this is in thier domain.

reading this, this is close to the same problem that I am experiencing in my thread.

However, it happens a year later.

I do recall Vichy France being annexed by France, however that was a month before the event in question.

I guess the Germans should have wiped out the French in it's small part of occupied Italy earlier in the game.

Or is it still cause of annexation of Mexico? (as with my game history)

Another Frozen Game

I am experiencing a similar situation. In my game, it is December 1942 and three Baltic countries seperate from the USSR, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. These events occur simultaneously and my game "freezes".

If you guys feel this is related to the bug mentioned, then post in the bug forum thread. If they tell you it is not related then start your own thread here.
