Another Patch Problem

Just bought the game and am trying to install the new 1.03b patch. I get the message "cannot find game".

My CD has Paradox, Strategy First, Infogames on it.

I have tried both the Paradox and Strategy First patch for NA.
I also tried the ENG patch. All give me the same message.

Have unistalled the game per sticky thread and tried again, no luck.

Any ideas?:

Did you clear the registry entries and delete all the folders as well?

"Cannot Find Game"

Hey, I don't know if this fix has been posted - but I found that the location of HOI listed in my registry was not the location that I installed it. I changed the registry from the default location c:\program files\ strategy first\HOI (I think) to where I installed it which was C:\games\hoi. Once I made this change, I was able to install the patch.

Here's the customary be careful when messing with the registry, back it up before changing, yadda yadda ...

Now it's working

O.K. I had to re-install the game in the directory that the game
wanted, no the one I wanted, to get the patch to work. Oh well.

Patches and Install Locations

Greg,
You should be able to install the game where you want and apply the patch as long as you update the location in the registry. This fix is pretty safe for a registry hack as long as you only edit that one key under HKLM>Software. Although, I completely understand if you don't want to mess with the registry.
