Yes and hipsters are wearing Che Guevara tshirts. That is definitely a cause good enough to not bring an additional interesting units into the game. What will be the next excuse? Soviet guns do boom... just like US guns do boom, meaning there is no need for new guns that do boom since we already have them in the game.

... and then he goes and lists games that have absolutely nothing to do with the genre SD is in or are not even close to SD. You see you are just as (insert something here) as the OP is. He is Russian so he wants Russians in the game because of his ego. You are probably from US so for the sake of your ego you can't stand Soviets being in the game.

The rest sane and reasonable people ... we want Soviets in the game as well because they are an interesting faction. In a game that there are no remotely similar options in terms of scope and gameplay on the market.

Face it, Soviets will be added as a DLC, simply for the reason provided above. In the meantime it is fun to piss of "muh freedom" since the game is not out yet to spend my valuable time on it.
There are a whole lot of assumptions in this post, so I'm not going to bother correcting them. I will, however, point out thatsaying that the Men of War series, and Company of Heroes, aren't in the same genre as SD is silly. There's some aforementioned strategy games that were posted, as well.

Have you ever played CoH at all?

Nice cherry pic. You claimed, in your post, that these games are not in the same genre. I gave you examples of ones that are. Yes, I have played CoH. Not sure what you're getting at.

You made a lot of assumptions about me in your post. Now, I would like you to pick out the part of my post where I said that the Russians should never be added to this franchise, or that they wouldn't be. I won't hold my breath.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, they choose Normandy for the diversity? You have, ingame alone, six distinct nations engaging in the battle with a wide variety of different OOBs. If we saw a game on the Eastern front sure we'd have the Soviets and Germans, but what else? Romanians? Italians? It would be a much lesser pool to choose from for players if the game were relegated to the East rather than the West.

Yeah but there are no Russians, which is the most important thing.

If a game doesn't have the USSR in it it is allied bias, fake news, hollywood history, USSR won the war, etc.

No, please. I did this post because it was obvious someone will do it. So i did it for the purpose of my own amusement, as people who seriously rage for SU not being ingame would do all the job of making fun themselves, given a thread to do this. Consider me a troll, if you want.

Call of Duty: World at War featured Russians.
Red Orchestra 1 and 2 features Russians.
The Men of War series features Russians.
Company of Heroes 2 features Russians.
War Thunder features Russians.
World of Tanks features Russians.
Well, i could agree only on RO and MoW, because CoD and CoH are, well, sometimes considered insulting for their unconventional point of view. WoT and WT are just MMOs, so they are half-relevant, at least for me. Form the point of upcoming games i could remember only SS4, and it features SU, but Allies and Axis as well.

Really i'm ok with SU coming in DLC, the biggest of my worries is how is it going to be shown, like in MoW, Blitzkrieg or like in CoH and CoD. I would just hate seeing such things as penal squads, MGs shooting it's own and so on. Hope Eugen are better than this.

I like to think of myself as a sane and reasonable person, and I wouldn't want to touch the issue of balancing Soviets with a two-meter pole. Nor am I particularly interested in seeing them in-game, not over North African, Asian or Italian fronts, though I realise that if the initial game does well an eastern front DLC/expansion is coming sooner or later. For the time being though, I can play Soviets in other games.

Point being; don't assume that "sane and reasonable people" equals you. We're all (somewhat) sane and (more or less) reasonable people, and we all have different wants for the game.

It would be a much lesser pool to choose from for players if the game were relegated to the East rather than the West.
To be fair. Germany, Italy, Finland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Spain + Waffen SS volunteer divisions from all sorts of countries (although I've not seen their TO&E's so I'm unsure if anything but the voice-over would change for those) for Axis. Soviet Union on one side. That's not much worse than SD: Normandy '44 - the Eastern front was actually a whole lot more diverse than people give it credit for.

So like....

Your point was that there weren't enough Russian WW2 games....

but....

Really you meant "Russian WW2 games that fit a bunch of subjective criteria".

Aight.

subjective
When devs issue a patch to remove at least some of offensive content from the game after it was nearly banned, it's not subjective. It's just game being an offensive pile of disappointment. If you like to be insulted, well, i heard about such a fetish, but i prefer a more friendly approach from the videogames.

I have said this in another thread but to repeat I am more interested in Eastern Front than Western and will wait for a probable DLC. I love both Eugene and Paradox games, so it should be an awesome game but I still would wait. But I understand that from marketing perspective (The most important criteria for any game development) a game about western front is more salable than eastern front and Eugene being a French Company they would sell a lot in their home country with focus on France.

As per variety of course east has variety too as mentioned Germany, SS, Italy, Romania, Hungry, Poland, Guards and with expansions you can have Finland and Japan too.

But then it all boils down to "market" for example, "Wargame Red Dragon", no matter how much I wish for South Asian countries to be included (basically because I am an Indian) which could be awesome historically and ahistorically with various Indo-Pakistani conflicts where historically US and UK had send their fleet in support of Pakistan to intimidate India and Soviets had send their fleet to shadow those two which could have been potentially gone hot ahistorically. Also Sino-Indian conflict but I also realize this won't happen not because its not a good scenario, its a great scenario with good variety but this won't happen because there isn't a large South Asian market for these games.

So basically driving force behind all game developments is (and it should be btw) how good it could sell and identifying the market where it will do better.

A grand total of....7 games...
soo please mr "too many russians in ww2 games" people... please shut it

USSR in WW2 was pretty much throw bodies at it until its dead
Arty spam, Infantry spam, tank spam, repeat if it fails
do you really want to lose 5-6 tanks to kill one enemy tank? do you really want to lose 10 soldiers to kill one enemy soldier? what about planes was there (and this is an honest question) a soviet plane with a 1/1 Kill ratio that wasnt lend leased to them? Even if there was would anyone believe it? Soviet records are sketchy as hell at best.

To make the USSR playable without spam, realism would have to be thrown out the window and extreme liberties would have to be taken for balance sake. What in reallife would be a tank with farmers some of wich could not read (T-34 was designed so even the most basic uneducated person could use it) would instead be a fully trained elite tank crew. what would in reality be partisans with almost no training would turn into a fully trained infantry. ETC.

Id much rather see the current countries on differant fronts or the almost unrepresented Pacific i can only think of 2 games with the Pacific theater represnted in the last 3-4 years and thats Rising Storm DLC and MoW wich doesnt even represnt the fighting in a realistic manner just Japan prototype spam If Pacific front was repesented properly it would be a whole new experiance that you cant really get in any other game right now. alot more interesting then another Eastern front slog again.

Not exactly... if we followed with the tactics used by grigory zhukov sure... but plently USSR weapons during 44 were very much capable in the right hands.... take the 122mm D25/T for example... the thing penetrates most of the big german cats except the konigstiger.... even then that 122mm gun will still kill the king tiger on the first hit regardless due to spalling and cracking
Soviet infantry training was horrible true... but the sheer availability and capability of their equipment offsets this... sorta like wargame red dragon... idc if my motos would be smashed alive by infantry... but theyre just meatshields for my afghanskiy blobs xD
At the same time some highly trained guards battalions existed... and were effective in their battles

Achrung Panzer Kharkov 1943
Theatre of war Kurk 1943 (granted it had Korea and africa aswell)
Chain of command Eastern front. I dont know much about this at all exept it looks horrible
Graviteam Tactics series.
Also coming out soon is Gates of Hell on the MoW engine.
Also Men of War Condemed Heroes.

Look at developers countries you could have 2 of the same games just a reskin ones Western front ones Eastern front the western front will sell more copies in United States and other western countries the Eastern front one will sell in Russia better. it sucks but its true its the same reason why Hollywood focuses on United States mostly because their main audience is Americans
