Anschluss?

Now played a couple of times as germany and have yet to have this event happen. Have had austria join alliance on 2 occasions, and on 1 occasion go to war with me!!!

Is there a set date for this event to fire on

What conditions are necessary 2 make this event happen

First of all always go for option A (the first choice) should you want to stick to the historical path. As the Anschluss itself is also dependent on Italy's stance we'd welcome a history log of the given time frame though.

The timescale is very tight - if you want the Anschluss, don't let events drift by and get round to clicking the "ok" a day or two late.. you will miss stuff this way - such as Austria....

As I recollect, to get to the Anschluss you have to start the ball rolling with the 1936 Nuremburg Rally event. If you don't choose Option A there (as Hagar points out) you go down a whole different path.

Is there a way to manually trigger the event?

You'll need someone with more savvy than me to answer that. I guess you should be able to F12 your way through it, but since each link in the chain seems to set a flag of one kind or another, it might be that you'd have to fire each one manually to get to the desired result.
