Crusader Kings 2 was released in Feb 12, then around 18 months later saw the release of EU4 in Aug 13, which is now over four years ago. With the exception of Hearts of Iron IV (which is a bit out of my timeframe) & the smaller scale March of the Eagles there have been no further official Paradox Historic Strategy full games since. Yes Paradox did release the space strategy game Stellaris, plus seemingly never ending DLC'S, as well as thirty party software, but nothing really of note that made them.

After this time I would have expected to see the sequel to Victoria 2, an antiquity game, & even CK3, or any other surprises Paradox might have. Instead not only haven't they been released, there has yet to be any news of any of them or others even existing.

Game companies have never been able to rest on their laurels & always keep fans expectations up with a flow of releases, but this now seemed to have stalled. I don't want to make this an attack on DLC's as they have their place, but there does seem to be a reliance on them above anything else, & squeezing everything out of a game before moving on. I think this is a mistake, & people do start to lose interest, & the forums I feel are not really a representation of the whole fan base, not that I am criticising them as they are of a high quality in general, with some quality debate. Releasing DLC's with a flow of new releases would seem to make more sense, but obviously I am just a consumer & there maybe a reason for the current policy.

Make no mistake I am a great fan of Paradox & its games for many a year, & this is not an attack on them, but more like frustration of the lack of title flowing through. I just wonders what others feel about this.

I'd rather have expansion packs which further improve and expand the game than a whole new game. Only if the game is at its limits should a sequel be released (this of course is dependent on genres).

There are 3 secret projects currently in development, one of which is certainly Victoria 3 (I'd bet all the money I got on that). And I much prefer a 6-year-DLC support over pumping out a new iteration every two years. Additonally, you can be sure that revenue and player numbers are great with the DLC model, otherwise they wouldn't do it. And the occasional statistics they throw around show that as well.

You can also have a look at this graph to see that player numbers for CK2 and Eu4 are pretty much stable or even higher than a few years before.

If you want an educated guess, we get a new major PDS game announced in 2018. Either at PDXcon in May or Gamescom in August.

Don't see why people throw disagrees at the OP. This forum is ment to allow question like the OP ask.

Paradox have said they be more careful with announcement after Hearts of Iron IV which was announced and like a year later released. So they are going to wait till they really know the things release date or something like that. Anyway they have atleast 3 projects under development and every day they should get a day closer to annoucement and release. So you and me just have to wait, don't worry to much about it as there may be better things to do today.

Game development is not just about money but about people that love what they do, DLC allow them to build up their games and they are going to make completely new games as well:)
