A simple answer is probably no and that you shouldnt be looking to get a newbie game together anyhow. Let me explain....

You dont want to play in games where no one knows what they are doing because you will waste an incredible amount of time attempting to work out how everything goes. Dont repeat our mistakes of the past. Play with experienced players who know how not to crash all the time and know how to behave in games.

In my experience, so called MP newbies are a totally random bunch who very different levels of capability. However, if you can play the game then there is no reason as why you cant just play with regular players. invariably when I get emails/ ICQ from newer MP-ers they are concerned about the level of play. In my experience there has only ever been 1 player who was so bad that I actually needed to stop the game. Whilst there have been others whoes performance wasnt brilliant they were not totally out of place.

What is your ICQ btw, I'll add you to my list.

Thanks for your reply!

I posted my question because most good players hates to play bad ones. Í consider myself a pretty experienced EU player but MP is usually VERY different.
However, the EU community generally consists of nice people so...

I ain´t got ICQ (or I havent used it in like 5 years).

Its not that MP-ers hate to play with newer players. They hate to play with people who are going to muck them about, play short term and not make arranged appointments. This makes players reluctant to play with people that they dont know or dont have their ICQ number.

Most of the so called newbies have played the game and have played at least one game with a diplomatic element before and thus are more than capable of playing against most opponents.

A good sign that you are going to take games seriously is to get ICQ. ICQ is the medium that is used to play continuation, and thus normally serious, games.

Hello,

Some people don't like the full version of ICQ, I strongly suggest that you spend the extra time (depending on connection speed) gettting it. Most of the players in our group have the full version and it allows you to set up an independant chat room that makes it possible for all players to get in the same room and iron out game details, etc.

Very interesting. Do you know if Trillian supports that feature?

Add me, let's test it out.

I had icq lite and then got the full version. But it is relatively new to me - how do you set up a chat?

Thanks

When you and the group of people are all online click on one of their names and then you will get a whole bunch of options and one of them is set up a chat room it is about one thrid of the way down in the options (I think this is right, its on my computer at home). Then when you invite the second person make sure you click the little circle box in the middle of the popup to the right that lists the people currently in the chat and ask them to join, so on and so forth to get everyone into the room. If you have any other questions ICQ me on Friday after 4:00 CST and I will walk you through it.

I also use Trillion, and I don't think it supports chatrooms via ICQ.
Allways I want to use it (ICQ chat) I go with the Original ICQ version (v.2003b) .
