I have found there is no way for me to be Novgrod. When i check the ICG i doesn't have Novgrod labled as a country? Is there a way i missed to be Novgrod. By the way there are no scenarios with Novgrod.

Novgorod does not exist in 1492. So you can't start as it. If you have a saved game where Novgorod has declared independence from Russia (I do, and could email it if you like), you can do a quick edit (look in the EU FAQ under playing as minors) and play as them. A little work, but not too much.

Novgorod is an independent country in the IGC (version 2.3), don't know why you can't play it. Check the scenarion forum, I'm sure it will contain a thread telling you how you need to edit the game.

No, no, Novgorod is a REVOLTER in the IGC. It doesn't exist and you can't play it without editing the savegame file.

edit: plus my savegame is from a 1520 start. So COT Moscow not Novgorod. I'll email it Monday if you're still interested.

also Transylvannia is playible but in ICG you can't be it because its not on the list. And also the Ukraine.

Again, those countries don't exist in either 1520 or 1492. So they aren't on the list because you cannot play them, because they don't exist at the start. You're mistakern when you say they are playable - they are just a revolter.

The same is true of Norway, although there is a fantasy option to make Norway exist.

Any nation which is in as a revolter only can be edited to make it playable.

Isn't that what I said?

Basically you have to wait until the country revolts. Or play it's overlord and make it revolt by intolerance or civil war cheat codes. Once it declares independence you saev the game. In the save game at the top of the file is a list of all the major powers (8 probably depending on the scenario/IGC). All but one say something like 'computer controlled'. One says the name of your machine. Now you find the 3 letter tag (RUS Russia, ENG England etc, they are in text.csv). Edit the country controlled byyour machine by replacign the tag you started with with the tag you want to play. For my save I simply changed OHI (Iroquois) with KAL (Novgorod). Start the saved game and you are Novgorod (or whoever).

A couple of days ago something a bit strange happened. I put the fantasy option on to free Finland and when I started the game and was checkin out scandinavia Finland wasnt called Finland at all, but Novgorod, a province it didnt own. The next time I started the game up it was Finland again. Perhaps I need some hallucigens?
