Hey

Really loving Battles of Ardania and I think it's my favourite campaign released for Majesty 2 so far. I'm just wondering if anyone from Paradox could comment on whether or not there are plans for more Majesty 2 releases.

The thing is I feel that Battles of Ardania comes close to realising the potential of Majesty 2 and touches upon it a couple of times but still never really gets there. I would have thought that a second expansion would have been the ideal time to provide players with lots of new units to play with and some neat new features. As good as it is though it is basically just another campaign.

So if anyone could let me know if any further releases are planned I'd greatly appreciate it. Haven't enjoyed Majesty 2 this much before and I've always loved it.

I think Majesty 2 is at its limit in the terms of adding new units/AI/features. The game engine supposedly won't allow it. Been discussed a few times already that it probably won't/can't happen. Have to look forward to Majesty 3 instead.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, IamMeeks ;)

I truly hope you are correct, but I'm just going off of the multiple posts from the Devs saying the engine is at it's max. I'm happy with more campaigns and minor tweaking until Majesty 3 comes out (hopefully), but would love a major upgrade of the hero AI.

Well, lets put it this way. The major upgrade of any sort = rewriting the engine, and there simply is no way to do that due to inability/licensing/whatever. This means, that most things in the game as they are now, will remain the same. They might get a bit better in the actual balancing, but the mechanics will be the same. This does not mean that there is no room for other expansions, however.

Our mod team is working hard to bring you a brand new expansion, which will have some improvements that the community will hopefully like.

I find this expansion is less exciting and long lasting than the goblins expansion.
mostly because i am so used to the whole routines of building the economy and grouping into the same group combinations.
i think the future expansions should be more on the story telling and bring us more stories, just like what they did in settlers 5.
with current software, it is not difficult to just add a few ancient something and make that thing a real boss level enemy.

I'm actually perfectly happy with the AI and the mechanics of the game. I'd just like some new playable units to change the dynamics of play which at the moment don't vary too much from mission to mission. For example, why can't there be say, three different mage guild types which are all incompatible with one another, each having their own benefits. Maybe a strange sect of religious fundementalists who provide great benefits to whoever they serve but which absolutely refuse to be present alongside any form of corruption such as a rogues guild. There is so much potential here and to me it seems so simple. All I'm advocating is at least new hero types that force players to choose a certain path which will add even more replay value to the maps instead of just going through the motions of building the same set of stuff each time. Both the Ice Mages from Kingmaker and the gnomes from Battles of Ardania were a wasted opportunity. They were a tease more than anything else. I think that the three campaigns we have, along with the randomisation element and the map editor is really enough in terms of arenas of play. I'd love to see the third expansion pack focus exclusively on new units. I really can't imagine that being impossible since when someone thinks "expansion pack", new units is usually the first thing to come to mind.

Oh but I'd love any newly introduced units to then be playable in all previous campaigns if the player wishes. Pushing my luck there? ;)

EDIT: Hope I'm not coming across as too demanding here. I really love Majesty 2 and want to see it thrive. These are the things that I believe the game really needs because when you've built warriors, wizards, rogues and whatever else on one map, you've done it on them all.

I'm assuming you folks have seen the announcement around Monster Kingdom the "last" M2 expansion, which does seems to contain new playable races, etc.
