So... are you using a mod to start before 769?

Do you try to recreate historic kingdoms/empires or do your own alt thistory? Or a bit of both?
I would say it is a mix. Just created the Empire of Scandinavia in current play-through but Finland has broken off due to gavelkind. Did anyone really create that empire? Not enough of an expert to know but doubtful. However, the constant breaking apart and reconquering seems to replicate the Norse turmoil I read about in history.

What stories do you have of your runs?

Sounds very interesting. If you feel up to it, why not try writing an AAR? I suggest you read some first if you haven't already. I am writing them now, but made a lot of mistakes at the beginning. I thought I had read enough but I had not really paid enough attention. That's a fun part of the forum and the CK2 AARs are very active. Can't recall any recent ones on the Sassanids though.

I play too here and there. Been pretty surprised though when I returned to the game since its launch and found not only lots of dlc but also that map got gigantic. o_O not good for late game performance but an ability to play as Nepal, India or some africans is nevertheless nice.

Much appreciated. Well, CK3 anyhow is pretty barebones for now compared to CK2 so no wonder so many people still play it. I, for one, played when it came out, but my laptop wasn't able to run it properly so no game for me until recently when I found out it's free on Steam (and mixed response to CK3). Had a blast, especially with all that new content compared to CK1 where I also spent lots of hours back then.

you play wit any mods?

do you play with any mods
I have played the Game of Thrones mod, which I think I had mixed results with, and the game didn't seem as engaging with it, but that was awhile ago, so perhaps that mod has improved, especially with the new DLC and main game advancements.

I usually don't play with mods though. However, to each their own. Must say I haven't explored those in some years.

However, if you are thinking of an AAR, well, many folks write those from mods. Either way, it is about having fun. Good luck to you!

No, there was never (quite) a unified empire of Scandinavia as per CK2/EU4.

The so-called "North Sea Empire" (1013-1042) had Denmark and Norway (and England), and it existed in the middle of the CK2 time period... but it was lacking Sweden and Finland. Disqualified.

The Kalmar Union (1397-1523) was probably the closest approach to a Scandinavian empire at any time in history - but the administrations of Norway, Denmark and Sweden+Finland were always separate. (In EU4, it's modelled as Denmark having a personal union over the fairly-loyal Norway and the almost-always-rebellious Sweden+Finland. If it existed in any CK2 start date, it would probably be modelled as a triple-kingdom - not an empire.) Also, the Kalmar Union is almost outside the CK2 time period (769-1453), which makes it even more dubious if you're asking whether anyone created the CK2 Scandinavian Empire.
