I don't think he is an administrator though. You should have tried BiB or Uglyduck... I don't know if regular moderators have the power to create forums...

No - you did the right thing. Always go through the Moderator first or I would only have to get back to him before doing anything anyway.

You can add me in for Historical Research if you want I got quite a collection of books at home everything from Oxfords companion to military history and the WW2 one for easy referencing to memoirs of many of the main commanders to some of the lesser known one's. A lot of different books on the main campains and battles. Most dealing with WW2 Eastern Front. Only problem is I spend two weeks every month up at mining camp So it limits how many books I can bring up with me do have satilite internet up here though and my job only takes up about 4 to 6 hrs a day even though they pay me for 12 so I'd have lots of time to surf the net for anything extra you need. Don't know the first thing about modding though.

My E-mail is murphy.king@diavik.com if you want to get a hold of me.

yes, i can help adding some historical stuff.

I just finished an essay on the Later Life of Kaiser bill...

How about and event "Letter from the Kaiser"
Wilhelm II, in exile in holland sent a letter to Hitler upon the defeat of Poland, congractualting him on the victory. Hitler Ignored the letter, having no intrest in identifing with Germanies past"

"Yes! Accept the letter! The Kaisers Honor Shall be restored with Germany's!"

"No, tell willy to go take a long walk off a short peir!"

trhats just off the top of my head...

also,if new images are needed, i can round some stuff up...

what else is needed?

Madmax, Twisted_Mentat and anyone else wanting to do Historical Research

Thanks for the interest and what we need to do is to begin historical researching and as you research write down event ideas. What I reccomend is to pick say one country say for example Romania and research any significant historical events that you believe should be included. Once you have a group of event ideas then e-mail me a text version of these ideas. We will then post theses ideas within a forum and the community will decide wether to add these events. Once we have decided to include these events they will be distributed to the event programmers. So dig in and have fun :).

my e-mail: cengle@e3controls.com

Pirateiam,

I have done some events for EU2, but I will have to learn about the HOI event language. You might count me in for some events, though I don't have any in mind right now.

P.S. what's the word on getting a forum for our project?

N!ghty,

I just used EEP as an example (somewhat of a bad example) of a community driven MOD. The begining idea of EEP was to do a community event/idea exchange. What happened with EEP (in some peoples opinion) was that it went from a community run mod to a individual dictorial run mod. I envision this as a free exchange of ideas between modders in this community. The events/ai/ideas will then be combined into a customizable (is that a word? lol) mod where the individual can install events of his/her choosing. I call this the "moddable mod" I will try to facilitate this mod but I will NEVER Dictate this mod. I understand that some decisions must be made independently but if anyone has concerns please let me know. By the way if anyone wants to help in the managemment of this PLEASE PLEASE let me know since I need alll the help I can get.

If the Alpha Centauri quote in your sig is any indication, I think you will live up to that goal. :)

But I believe you have it slightly wrong. I think it is something like this: "Beware those who would deny you information, for in their hearts they dream themselves your master." An important quote to remember, so our mod doesn't end up like the eep of eu2.

Captain,

Well I am in the same boat since I modded EU2 myself then started modding HOI myself. I am a Controls Engineer that programs PLC'c for a living so I am use to relearning programming languages since they change them on us constantly lol. The script language is pretty easy so if you modded EU2 then HOI should be no problem for you.

As for the Project Forum - Vulture is putting our request threw the proper channels (I assume Paradox) and will let me know soon what the answer is. I will post what happens as soon as I find out.

lol Yeah I changed the wording of that to include the free speech instead of the infromation, it kind of had to do with some off topic discussions ;)

SMAC was one of my old favorite games. I loved the philosophy thrown into that game. ohh the memories - AKi Zeta 5 - :p

"Resources exist to be consumed, and consumed they will be. If not by this generation, then surely at sometime by some future's. And what gives this forgotten future generation the right to use what we cannot?"

I know at least half a dozen people who regularly quote that little gem :D :D :D SMAC was a good game, I preferred the "slow tech" version where you couldn't develop better weapons in the time it took somebody to move a unit a couple of squares. Fast tech reminds me of Civ-style gaming where you can go from conscript infantry to modern tanks faster than you can sail around the world...

How's your prototype mod-selector coming along? I could sure use something like that for testing, yesterday I had 2 PC's running test games all evening to iron out the problems in my events and AI files but it's a hassle to be switching files around.

Since we now know that you can run two PC's with HOI for testing purposes you have now been nominated as Head EPIC HOI Tester. :D

As for my mod selector program... unfortunatley just the interface has been started but once this project gets up and running I will go back to it and finish it.

Vulture will probably contact you. However you need a new name for the Project. The word EPIC for a project is already in use by Johan for his projects.
Please settle on a name and post here. We may then sort a subforum out for it.
