I was wondering if someone does, as I would very much appreciate some feedback. Mostly, I am interested in knowing if you also experience all kind of unhistorical results (usually they don't bother me, but there are gazillions).

Here is what I am encountering playing Spain (started 1419 and it is 1485):

1) France has grown to gigantic proportions way beyond its cores
2) Austria is down to 2 provinces, and it is not going to get anything from Burgundy, as Burgundy is reduced to one province.
3) Mameluks have taken most of the Otoman Empire, including Thrace and all the Balkans.
4) Muscovy has already formed Russia, and is way bigger than it should by roughly 70 years into the game.

Am I being an idiot by playing the EEP wiht the betas?

Ah, and one more thing. I usually don't play Spain (fun but too easy), but wanted to give it a try with the EEP (never played the EEP before). Well, it has been a huge challenge navigating getting stability up and making any money (am keeping a puny army, but even so money is hard, though luckily inflation is quite low for Spanish standards).

Thanks for any advice!

i play with the betas but after a half dozen games of 200+ years i haven't seen the same "problem" occur often. some games france swelled up while others it never did anything. austria is the same way. the mameluks still retain possesion of the middle east for way too long and the ottomans never seem to go anywhere, but that has always been the case.

I had Austria disappear completely around 1550 in my Savoy game (got to be the Emperor, lalala :) ) but apart from that - no major anomalies. My biggest beef is Persia, it kind of refuses to stay alive in most of my games. The Uzbeks eat it up most of the time.

just my two cents worth.

I just wanted to chime in; playing Russia I've noticed it expanding at a much greater rate than I expected but then again I did squash Novgorad and absorb it by about 1430 <two very lucky campaigns & one very nice diplomatic occurance> but in no game have I ever seen France or the Ottomans do much of anything without a human player. Is that some bug in the game or were they really in that sad a shape historically? I kind of thought the Turks were set up much better than that.

The only weird thing I have seen was Ottoman Empire taking over like half the world by 1550. In two seperate games already they have taken all the lands from Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, and so on. In one game, they took Europe all the way up to Alsace  !!! The Ottomans were sharing a border with France! In the other, they went as far as the taking all of the Polish lands and then Austria kept beating them back.

I played my latest game with EEP and 11May patch, with no major problems... Well, some little weird things happened. For example, when French Catholics rebelled from France, the capital of France moved to Mobile, North America!! When the game ended, France had no provinces in continental Europe... And Austria diappeared before 1500, got eaten by Hungary. And Byzantium is the most powerful nation in the world - but that's not a miracle, since I'm playing that.:D

All this & modesty too?

Hmmmmm.....all that & modesty too eh? lol, still I can see where your coming from. Without players running it France seems to shrivel up & die pretty quick. Any idea out there whats up with that?

Everyone does know that the EEP was created for the betas, right? ;)

Is it, I have looked at the EEP thread and the download webpage and didn't see anything that would indicate that. Maybe I missed something but I have been sticking with 1.07 because I thought there was some inconsistencies between EEP and the Beta.

AHH! I can't believe I typed that. I mean wasn't.

The only realy weard thing I've seen playing the eep with the latest beta is that in allmost every game so far (10 -12 games) byzantium has completly recoverd and grown beyand the old eastern empire.... Once when I wasent in europe at the end of the game (gc) byzantium had conqured all of northafrica all of the balkans, hungery, Italy, polen-lithuania and of course the middel east pluse they hade taken a large chunk out of central europe. I was acually scared when I saw it it mad my littel suthamerican empire lock small (Incas unefied south and centralamerica :D )

I've noticed something weird with the 1520 scenario. It starts normally, you can play it witout a single problem, but when you try to load a saved game --> CTD...

Among other things...

Poland eating up southern Russia, eastern Turkey and northern Persia (and boredering me with a permCB  )...

Turkey never getting Mamelukes...

Austria eating up HRE

Mughals stretching from Astrakhan to Bengal, owning everything but 4 provinces in between...

Austria regularly beating up Turkey (up to reducing them to 2prov minor)

Dead, not asleep AI when it comes to colonization...

Scary alliances (the last one: Spain, France, Austria, Poland, Austria & Mecklenburg, me playing Brandenburg and trying to figure out how to grab Mecklenburg without being eaten alive  )
