Are Some Explorers Better?

At uncovering land areas adjecent to the seas in which they sail?

I am playing a GC as Spain, and Magellon seems to be much better than the other explorers I have. It this just a fluke, or is it intentional?

It seems to me that the higher the Movement rating of the Explorer, the more likely they are to uncover those coastal provinces. Can't say for sure though . . .

Hmmmm.... it also looks that with better naval tech, you have better chance of uncovering coastal provinces. Not sure about this though.

Yes, both naval tech and leader manouver rating helps. Mayby there's more but these for shure are the most important.

I wonder if the size of the Explorer's force helps? It'd make sense: the more ships, the more ground (sea) could be covered at once.
