Hello I'm a new player but lots of games have hackers so... how would I be able to tell if people in EU2 or any other PDox game use hacks or 3rd party programs? This is just so that I know how to tell when a game is being crudded up so i cna leave as soon as possible are there any hacks out there for EU2 aside from the consol commands?
One question that i have. I have seen hosts using lag to their advantage, like using lag merchants. How can a host use such a thing when he is "the host"? IIRC, lag gifts cant be used, and i though lag merchants couldnt as well.
Anyway, I also remember in a game i had same version as everyone (or so i though), and then i kept getting like ID errors each 5 seconds. I didnt modify files, and we didnt use random leaders and such things that need new IDs implemented. So i wonder what was the error... It kept saying the ID was already in use.

Well hosts do not get lag, so cannot use any form of lag. If you play SP you can't use lag exploits and it is the same situation, there is no difference in your machine's program to the hosts program.
Ah, I heard about this one and saw the game log .. It looked like the host had deliberately cheated by editing some 70 on-route merchants to himself at the game start. Unfortunately I didn't see the save the game started with to be absolutely sure, but that was the only explanation I could think of.
30 days free trial. Similiar programs might also be available.
You can then quickly check any changes someone has made to a file and thus check if a host or a GM has cheated I recommend it to anyone with a healthy paranoia.

EU2 is one of few games that has so few cheaters and that makes the MP so much more fun. Though sometimes someone cheats, but it mostly get see-through.
In the FPS-genre it is will of cheaters and it is not so easy to see difference between the elite players and cheaters.
EU2 rules and I hope EU3 will be as good, when it comes to so few cheaters.
Yes one defense against cheating is to play with trustworthy players, but on the internet, that's hard to do. You only find out whether people are trustworthy or not by playing with them repeatedly, and even then they can sometimes surprise you.
Better to take precautions like comparing the save file data as FAL outlined.
