Argentina AAR

As you can tell, this AAR will be about Argentina. You must undestand that I never played this country before (not in HoI 2 but neither in HoI 1), so I don't know about the best strategic plans I should use. So if you have suggestions, or comments on my approach, feel free to post them.
I will first write an update listing the starting conditions. After that my plan is to do one post a month (game time that is) during peace time, and more detailed updates when I get involved in a war. The game will be played on a normal/normal difficulty (my usual settings for minors I never played before).

I am now going to start the game, so you can expect an update later today. I hope you will enjoy my first HoI 2 AAR!

Economic/social statistics

Our nation is not one the world's great economic powers. We do have a relatively good economic strength compared to our neighbouring nations, however (only Brazil has mor IC than us, we need to look out for them). We have 25 factories, and we have 26 effective Industrial capacity.
Sadly enough, however, we don't have enough natural resources to sustain our economy. We will have to rely on trade deals with other nations for our natural resource stockpiles.
Socially, there are no real concerns at the moment. The people are generally happy, and we can provide enough consumer goods to satisfy them.

Army statistics

Our army is not one of the world's leading armies, but again it is relatively strong compared to our neighbours. The only near competion is from Brazil, but their army is of less quality than ours. Our army consists of:

I Cuerpo de Ejercito (Field Marshall Justo)
1 army HQ (1936)
2 inf - Art (1918)
1 inf (1918)

II Cuerpo de Ejecito (Lt. General Mosconi)
1 mtn (1936)
1 inf - AA (1918)

Airforce statistics

Our airforce is the leading airforce in south America. It has the following components:

Aviacion del Ejercito (Mj. General Castex Lainford)
1 IntF wing (I)

Aviacion Naval (Mj. General Parodi)
1 Nav wing (I)

Navy statistics

We own the leading navy in South America. We have one problem though, because we have a shortage of screening ships for maximum efficiency. This is what our navy consists of:

Argentinian Navy (Vice Admiral Grosso Soto)
2 BB (I)
2 CA (II)
2 CA (I)
2 CL (I)
1 DD (II)
1 DD (I)
1 SS (II)

1/ annex uruguay
2/ after some years of preparation you must be able to conquer Paraguay and chile.
3/ and you conquer Peru
4/ and finally you beat Brazil ...

Really easy and very funny :D :D

I must disagree. Build a Standing Army and a well-balanced airforce. Research only Infantry, Land Doctrines, Artillery and Industrial. If you hava time, do the same with Aircraft and Air Doctrines.

By 1940 you should have Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia under your control and without partisans. With this you should have enough energy and metal.

Create Airborne troops and Air Transports, you we'll need them. By 1942, DoW Brazil, take their southern VPs by attacking from your provinces, and make Airborne Assaults in the North. Again, do Anti-Partisan Duty. With Brazil under your control, your need for Rare Materials is satisfied.

Now you want Oil! Attack Venezuela without mercy. Once annexed, do Anti-Partisan Duty. You should have done this by 1944. Now you have a decent economy and 3 Research Teams! (Or 4?).

I've played up to this point. If you want to annex the other conuntries, do it. But al this point you will have all what you need to become a Major Power.

Thanks for the feedback, it gives me some confidence that somebody actually reads it ;) . I'll dicide the precise strategic plan of conquering south America when it is time for it. Anyway, here's the new update:

January 1936

We start the new year by diciding where to put our industrial capacity. We will produce the bare minimum needed consumer goods, to save as much IC on that as we can. Trade deals will have to provide us with enough additional money to fullfill our needs.
We do spend some IC on production however. The infrastructure in whole Argentina has to be at least 40, including the high mointains in the east of the country. We also add a full mountain division to the production queue, which can operate in the mountain areas of south America much better than regular infantry.
We skip upgrade and reinforcements for the moment, and all of the left IC goes to the production of supplies. We will have to rely on the international market to survive (we don't have sufficient resources), and supplies are the only product we have enough of. Reinforcements and upgrades can wait a bit.

We are aware of the present treat of war, and we cannot stand back & watch neighbouring nations advance. We order some of our best companies to research some techs to help us in our war effort. They will be researching modern infantry divisions (1936) and basic machine tools.
Unfortunately the teams require more money than we generate, but some of our trade advisors have come up with a good proposal for a trade agreement...

We are aware of the U.S. policy towards central and south America. They will not just let us roam the continent, so the least we could try is to stay good friends with them in the coming years. They could prove a real pain in the *ss when they get to use their full potential. So we sent a diplomat to them, and he was also carrying our industrial future, a trade deal for the U.S., which would cover all of our resource needs...
We are very happy to announce that the U.S. accepted the trade deal we suggested. All of our resource stockpiles are groing now (except for supplies, changing with -0.03 a day). And we will continue the deal as long as we can. It will provide us with resources (offcourse), and we actually get a better relationship with the U.S. It is a valuable deal indeed!

IIRC all of their VP's are connected to each other, all in the center (east center if you like) of the country

February 1936

Nothing really special happened this month. We did do some reorganization in all of our armed forces, however. In our airforce, we've selected other commanders, to optimize our airforce effectiveness.
In the navy, we've changed leadership a bit, too. Our submarines are placed under command of a real sea wolf, and our surface fleet is split into two groups. One is our main battle fleet, it consists of 2 BB's, 2 of our most advanced CA's, 2 DD's and 2 CL's. This ensures optimal screening effectiveness. Our other two (older) CA's are put in our reserve fleet (currently consisting only of these two ships).
In our land forces, we've aranged our troops according to speed mainly. The HQ is an apart command now. We have a corps of two inf - art divisions, a corps of one inf - AA division and one apart vanilla inf division.

Also, our mountain corps arrived at the border of Chile / Bolivia. They are a good defence in the mountain-rich area, and maybe they can also serve in offensive operations later on...

If you look in the American diplomacy screen, you can see his slider settings. hover over the intervention slider, and it`ll say how many belligerence you can collect before they are allowed to declare war. Annex away!
