Hulloh!

I just downloaded and installed patch 1.2 for Armageddon, and it ruined my game. I had played Arma 1.1 without problem earlier, except for sporadic CTDs. Now, though, it always CTDs immediately upon starting a new game or loading a game, right after the status bar has finished. I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times to make sure I did that part right.

I installed the game from the HoI Anthology disk, and downloaded and applied the patch manually.

My operating system is Windows XP Professional service pack 3.

The computer is an Acer TravelMate 6492 (laptop) with an Intel Core2 Duo T7300 processor (2.0 GHz).

I have 2GB of DDR2 RAM.

The partition on which the game is installed has 63 GB free hard disk space, and I have another one with 58 GB free space.

I have DirectX version 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

And yes, obviously, I read the mandatory sticky. Please help :)

I would recommend the following

1. Save all of your save games to a safe place.
2. Uninstall HOI2 Arma and DD
3. Reinstall HOI2 DD.
4. Reinstall HOI2 Arma on top of HOI2 DD.
5. Apply the 1.2 Patch on top of the HOI2 DD installation. Make sure that the installer sees where HOI2 DD is located.. sometimes it doesn't.

Use this patch

I had no idea Arma needed to be installed on top of DD. Thanks, I'll try that. But where are the savegame files located? I haven't been able to find them despite searching for them.

I just reread your first post and i did not see the HOI2 Anthology part.

This is a better install order

1. Save all of your save games to a safe place.
2. Uninstall HOI2 Arma
3. Reinstall HOI2 Arma.
4. Apply the 1.2 Patch on top of the HOI2 Arma installation. Make sure that the installer sees where HOI2 Arma is located.. Most of the time it thinks it is in a folder called doomsday when it is in fact in a folder labelled Armageddon.

Use this patch

What's up with that? Would renaming the folder to whatever else solve it? I'm not getting the problem when the game is about to load a video. I see the videos perfectly when I start the program. The CTD happens when I load a game or start a new game, i.e. when I go from menu interface to in-game interface.

Just did what you suggested in your first post. Didn't work. Had already tried what you suggested in your second post. But thanks anyway.

Can you confirm that on the screen where you select to start a game that you have in the right hand corner Arma 1.2 VBLV?

Also renaming the AVI folder (to AVIBack) gets rid of the intro movie and sometimes that movie causes the game to act differently.

Renaming it won't hurt trust us we recommend it all the time.

Thanks Corey! It worked for me too!:)
