I do not understand how to control my armies when they are in a province besieging a fortress. When you select armies involved in a siege, you get a different user interface. It has buttons labeled “Cover”, “Assault” and “Besiege”. What exactly do these buttons do? Also, how do you bring up the “non-siege” user interface so that you can combine, split or move individual armies in a province besieging a fortress? For example, when you click the “Besiege” button I believe that the game splits your army by creating a new one with the minimum strength to besiege the fortress so that you can move the rest of you force out of the province. How do you select and move the non-besieging force?

I also have a question about what the information on the siege interface. What do the numbers in the circles on the left and right side mean?

George

Cover = split of minimum force to keep an open line of supply to troops further into enemy territory.

Assault = attack the fortress

Siege = split of minimum force to keep fortress under siege.

How do you select and move the non-besieging force?

Click on the respective bar under the soldier immage (I belive the latest split of is always the one highest up, so leave that one when moving the rest away).

What do the numbers in the circles on the left and right side mean?

Not exactly shure (not revealed by Paradox), but it probaly a reference to modifiers for Terrain, Leaders, Fortress strenght etc. Higher is better.

The right circle is the fortress strength, which seems to be equal to the fortress level in my experience. While the left number is the besieging force's strength. Which is dependant on number of cannons (0 cannons = -1, 1 cannon and above = 0, 2x fortress lvl in cannons = +1), any siege generals, and the same with number of inf.
That more or less explains it it seems to me..

It's a bit more complicated then that but it gets you in the ballpark.
