How is the maintenance costs for army units calculated? My current army strength and maintenance costs (playing the GC as Sweden in 1644) are:

Infantry: 201k, 11 ducats/month
Cavalry: 76k, 13 ducats/month
Artillery: 914, 2 ducats/month

Doesn´t artillery have surprisingly low maintenance costs? Maintenance costs for inf and cav seem to be in proportion to the cost of recruiting these units in the first place. I have more artillery than cavalry (91 'units' versus 76 units), and artillery is more expensive to recruit than cavalry, but still artillery cost so much less in maintenance. Isn´t this strange?

Cannons don't eat or need cloths, people & horses do.

1000 cav = 1000 men + 1000 horses
10 arty = 10 men + 8 ? horses + 2 ? cannons

An Arty unit is still much more expensive per person, there are just som many more people in an inf & cav unit.
