It seems like the army march rate is quite slow. Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the march rate? It really shouldn't take several months for a Roman Legion to march the length of Italy; two at most and that is if they are on a pleasant summer stroll.

don't road networks make the army march faster? If I remember right road networks come middle or late in the game. only roma has them at the early part of the game. so if you were marching from the boot tip to the alps then I think it would be two or more months on cross country terrain. Also moving troops back then was always faster by boat then by land.

Even in game ships are way too slow. My mod tries to fix this, among other issues: Improved Military Mod

End of advertisment :p

What did you change to increase marching and sailing speed?

put mod in your sig that way you can advertise it everytime you reply or write a thread.

Either paradox limit the image links or get more servers. I hate this "server is busy come back later" crap.

Movement speed seems about right, to me, considering the difficulties in moving a large army with supply train. Ship speed might even be a tad fast, especially for large fleets loaded with troops.

I wish army and ship speed were affected by the number of troops in the province. One cohort could make good time while moving 100,000 men across the Alps and in to Gaul should be devastating slow with significant attrition.

To travel from Rome to the province directly to the south takes a month. That is very slow.

You can change unit speeds in the "units" folder inside "common" where you will find a txt. for each unit. Change manuverability to a higher number

Thanks, I doubled the land units and tripled the fleets. I think this is more appropriate.

Can't this be changed in defines.txt a well? Right now everything is at 1 except cavalry, which is 2. What if it was changed to everything at 2 and cavalry at 3 or 4?

That's where I made the changes. I simply doubled all land units and tripled the fleets. If you change maneuverability in unit text it affects how units behave tacticly, which is not what I am after.

Yeah, I know, that's why lately I have so many double posts :/

And signature is already done ;) I make too many mods so I put into signature only the ones people are looking for ;)
