Im playin as the Russias and every single army i send At the Swedes Gets Crushed. I dont have any artillery or Cavalry in my 40k strong armys. Would this be the problem? Also how the hell do i raise my moral without making peace, i wanna keep the Attrition against the Swedes Going.

Cavalry is very important on plains and less so in swamps and mountains. So battle terrain is something to anticipate. Also, there is a 'fire round' in which your artillery plays the dominant role and without it, you are dead meat. So, you have these infantry who are just not going to withstand an opponent's cavalry and artillery. And, you have low morale. Sounds like you have yourself in a fix. Sue for peace and rebuild.

Also if the swedes have good leaders (and they get some good ones...) they may be kicking the tail of you generic colonels. Something you may want to try is letting them attack you in winter; make sure you have a good fort and counterattack if they seem to be winning the seige or if they assault. This will cause alot of attrition loses in their army (esp. if you do it in a nasty province like karelia, assuming you've conquered it already).

Do you really need to offer battle to their armies? It might be a good idea to avoid large battles and try to outmanouvre the Swedes with smaller siege armies instead.

It's always a hassle to fight battles in the north, because of the high attrition during the winter. Someone mentioned a 'fire round', but there is also a close combat round where cavalry has a major impact. If your enemy got more cavalry than you, they will have an advantage.

As for Swedish leaders, I just say: LOOK OUT! I think they have two 6/6/6 commanders, and in general quite good commanders.

your cruel

You can't defeat the might of Sweden :)
Well . The RUssians moral is very very bad. And so it was in fact. you have to outwage morall with troops. Build more troops then they can send against you. And if they route (your troops) THen wait. And attack again.
Thats the easy fact

Suggested tactics

Or use the tactics/strategy that Russians should have employed during their long history, but finally thought of during the Napoleonic era: withdraw and let the winter do its thing. Your towns come under siege, but winter usually kicks in before they'll fall, then kick butt. See them run!

I always do this. Declare war during winter, let the bad guys come to me. I keep all my armies bac one prvince from the border. Let the Swedes, Poles, Kazan...whoever. Die at the gates of a fortress and then move in for the kill.

A couple of Russian hints:

1. Don't siege fortresses...assault them. Yeah, yeah, yeah guys will die but so what. They are dirt cheap for the Russians to build. Plus, if your try and sit outisde the gates and siege all your guys will die of attrition anyways so at least make the effort.

2. In coupling with the let them attrit, not you. Don't buy infantry during peace time. Husband your resources to pay for cav/arty- Russia's economy sucks so bad this isn't easy. Then, when the war breaks out, buy your waves of infantry.

3. Find some cash. Chech the east where there are some big $$$ value provinces hidden admist the junk provinces out there- Samar I think is a big revnue location. Do your best to keep the Poles off your back and monkey about out east. Frankly, the sooner you cripple the eastern empires the better. Don't forget to send your settleers out there after you conquier these lands.

Dunno but Swedes,Tuetonic,French,Denmark Generals i have good luck with. I think its Random , But nations have higher Number generators. Like i said i have no idea

But then again,

I do not know how to view an enemy's commander stats. I don't think you can.

The commander values are not random, Steve5304. There is a special file that contains all stats on different countries leaders, both commanders and monarchs. Sometimes you get random explorers or conquistadors, but I think those have a pre-set value.

Each country has a number of extraordinary (historical) leaders in the file you mention, which are generally much better than the 'default' leaders. Their statistics are based on their reputations. The default leaders (one created for every army you have) have statistics depending upon the country which they work for, ie: all Sweden's default leaders are the same, but different from Russia's, and so on.
