And the initiation error says;

Application popup: demo32.exe - Programfel : Det gick inte att initiera programmet korrekt (0xc0000006). Klicka på OK för att avsluta programmet.

Well I don´t suppose I need to really translate that do I?

Weird...really, really weird.

If you do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete, does demo32.exe show as a running application? If so, terminate it.

Also, if you haven't already done so then rename your Hearts of Iron\AVI folder to AVI_OLD.

Have you tried any other CDs in the drive since this started to see of this is unique to HoI at the moment?

The other thought is that somehow your CD-ROM driver has been corrupted. Run a virus scan (just in case), then roll back the driver and then re-install it.

I´ll try that stuff when I get home but it seems that there is no problem with other CD´s whatsoever so I doubt that anything has gone wrong with the CD-ROM.

Idiotboy,

I've done some research and it seems some people tried to remove their CD-ROM from the Device Manager, and then rebooted to have windows automatically re-install it. You could try this, and if you really want to do a good job you can do this removal in Safe Mode (where you might see more than one CD-ROM driver for the same device - remove them all).

Let us know how it goes.

Uhm can you explain in more detail how this is done. I´m rather new to this tinkering and don´t want to blow any holes in anything.

No problem...

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> CD-ROM -> (your model CD-ROM)

Right click on (Your model CD-ROM) and choose Uninstall. It'll go through the process, and then you can reboot. Upon reboot Windows will detect the CD-ROM and reinstall it's driver. Then try HOI installation again and let us know what happens.

Ok about six months after this happened I decided to try HoI again and remembered this little fun detail. I followed this thing and guess what still doesn´t work. Guess my disc is going to fulfill it´s use as a really expensive dinnerplate or something.

Weird suddenly after multiple tries it works. Guess that uninstall thing really helped after all. Guess my computer being a oldie just didn´t understand that it was supposed to help until after a long time or something...:D

Anyway a load of thanks disk killer.... if you ever read this.:D

I am sure he knows in the cosmic sense. :)
