Hi folks.
One thing that has been running through my mind is the role artillery plays in the game. In SS2020 we have a feature that allows us to disable the 'enhanced artillery ranges'. This option limits the advantage gains by developing BLOS artillery technology and others.
However, some units simply appear way overrated which leads to pretty boring battles. E.g. the SS-80 from South America and the Russian Smerch are a pain to the game. If I get lazy and slowly move my forces through diverse areas, I simply put some heavily armored mechanic infantry brigades in the frontline, with a good radar spotting and endless stacks of Smerch behind them and by the time the approaching units reach the frontline troops, they are already minimized or have turned around. In defensive battles, it simply takes more of these units to outnumber one Smerch shelling me from a good entrenched city.
Despite their slower fire frequency, they easily break down even a frontal attack by these hundreds of Eastern European engineer brigades, before they reach the battlefield.
Sure, one could argue that I should simply not use these units and play without them and without enhanced ranges - but this is my point, I do, and still I find this a little annoying obstacle to conduct efficient and fast ground attack movements.
If there is a chance to simply correct these ranges, it would be of great help.
Cheers,
Denis
