I just bought EU2 Asian Chapters on GamersGate.

I downloaded it and went to install but got only a 'repair' or 'delete' option...........thinking it might be an expansion,I chose 'repair'...........

The combined instal starts, but errors when I try and select a campaign......

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Do you already have normal EU2 installed? If so, I think that's your problem, you can't really run both at once on the same machine. Asian Chapters is not an expansion, but a separate product not even developed by Paradox.

Oddly gamers gate had it listed with its paradox sale items even though paradox didn't really do that version nor do they seem to support it. It was sort of $4.50 down the drain unless you are really into playing as Korea.

I got Rome gold instead. $9.99 are they out of thier minds!
I suggest that before the sale is over

I think the problem would be the registry entries.

I think the problem would be the registry entries.

Maybe the OP can rename his EU2 folder, uninstall EU2 (deleting only the registry entries because it can't find the files anymore), and then install asian chapters. After this, the EU2 folder can be renamed back.

The game doesn't really need the registry entries anyway.

Yes, this solves the conflict and EU2 runs without problems after renaming the EU2-folder back to the original.

On a sidenote it's interesting that the conflict occurs in the first plasce since EU2 Asia installs into */Paradox Interactive/* while EU2 installs into */Paradox Entertainment/*. Maybe that's one reason why the Typhoon Games-patches don't work.

???

Guys, I am confused... how would I go about fixing my copy of Asian Chapters? I do not have the core EU2 game installed on this PC (now, or ever). Asian Chapters crashes every time, once I have selected a scenario...

Is a registry-fix possible in my case??

I purchased this from GamersGate, and am beginning to regret the decision...

There don't seem to be patches for this title ANYWHERE!

So... am I correct in assuming that there is no patch available for "Asian Chapters"?? Sorry to continue hammering on this point, Yoda... I just wanted to be absolutely certain that a fix wasn't possible before demanding a refund from Gamer'sGate

No patch doesn't mean the game can't work. There is something wrong with your installation, not with the game as it is. Which Operating System do you use? Where did you install the game on your computer? Did you try to rename avi folder?

Yes, please, give more detailed information. People cant really help you without you giving basic information.

As for the patches - i have searched for it on google and had a hard time finding any, as well. Perhaps you should contact typhoon games and ask for the latest version?

Details

Thanks guys...

My OS is Windows XP Professional (I refuse to use Vista)
1.6 ghz Athlon, 2 gigs on onboard Ram
512 meg nVidia card

I installed at: C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\EU2 - Asian Chapter. I have tried to rename the folder(s), but not the .avi file.

I did receive some error messages during the installation process, including:

"CRC error: the file...\EU2- Asian Chapter\map\incgrid.tbl doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted..."

there were 3-4 such messages, all similar (re: .tbl files)

There don't seem to be any patches available for Asian Chapters, and Typhoon Games has not responded to any of my requests... odds are, they don't support this title anymore.

This is the 1st/only title in the EU franchise that I have had any problems with... I was playing "Crusader Kings" for almost 2 years...

Your downloaded installation files were corrupted at some point. Download the game again using Gamersgate tool and install it at the same place. Uninstall previous corrupted installation before starting the process in order to be sure.

Well...

Thanks for the advice. I did as you suggested, and now I can start a scenario.

However, the game spontaneously crashes (without telling me why) within 5 minutes of play...

typical Windows BS: "We're sorry, but EU2 has encountered a problem, and needs to close". No explanation as to WHY!

((edit)): Also, the intro movie flickers wildly... I just bypass it when booting the game up. I don't know if this is relevant to my greater problem.

To avi_bak or something else you want. That way the game will be unable to find the normal avi folder, and therefore the movies, and wont run them because it does not find them.

As for the windows bs, i often had that error, but it was random and it occured from time to time.
