In a way yes, it is a program that shows what games you are playing and for how long you've been doing it. Paradox does have a fanclub there:

http://www.xfire.com/communities/pdgc/

There u can see how long all the members have been playing the paradoxian games that are on Xfire and you can also post events, news and such.

Cool. I'll see what I can do. There is a suggestion forum I see, but I guess you have tried that already?
(8555 hours of EU3 logged, nice. :))

Who determines who gets sent to events like E3?

Johan and the marketing people.

Do people that go to E3 and whatnot have to bring stuff back for the folks that don't get to go?

I haven't gotten anything from E3, so no. :)

Did Fredrik bring any hair back to share?

I hope not.

Johan, what is your:

Mothers maiden name
Your first school
Name of your first pet

Thanks

We should uses that icon as the medal for people that buy V2

We decide the line-up of games and then try and get one developer per game to come and present. In addition you have the sales/biz dev people who might need to go for meetings. We'll send anyone with a valid reason to go, usually that valid reason means a minimum of 30+ meetings per show ;). Fredrik takes it a bit further by starting his meetings at the airport, getting a ride to the hotel while having another meeting in the car, and then at the hotel.

Ask Shams and Johan how many times they actually had the opportunity to get outside our booth at E3 to check stuff out apart from occasional bathroom breaks :p. We did manage to buy a couple of Ipads for the office though.

There was talk of donating it to the oil relief people - apparently that's huge now. And very effective way of soaking up the oil. Not sure if that was serious though.

I think this points towards good things for the Mac on GG as well.

GamersGate started to sell PC and Mac games as one bundled product. If you own one or more of those games that we are offering as a bundle, we've made sure that you get the other platform's version added to your account for free.

For some titles that require serials, you recieved only one. That serial will work for both versions.

Our current PC/Mac bundles can be found at:

Have Paradox ever considered to release "Heir To The Throne" in box as special edition with some special stuff for fans ? Maibe only through your new "simple café press store" ? :)

No, sorry. The café press store can only sell things that are standard café press items. HttT is sadly not one of those items.

Are you interested in the mac as a target platform, or will conversions still be done by an external studio?

They are still made by Virtual Programming, but they usually release all our titles, so I think the new expansions should arrive.

I am curious as to why the new sprites never make it to my maps...they've been downloaded and also say they been installed but alas...to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, this is more of a tech support question, so if this answer does not solve the problem, please start a thread in the proper tech support forum for the game.

Go to game options, deselect "use counters". You may need to zoom in a bit too.

What are your favorite console games, if any?

I like Bayonetta, Guitar Hero, Little Big Planet and Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic.

What are the staff plans in the event of a zombie apocalypse?

Well, we have actually discussed this at several occasions. The main idea is to arm the office with whatever weapons we can get, I for myself would like something that can chop heads of, like hedgeshears or something similar. I wouldn't want anything that demands reloading. Our office could be fortified rather easily, I think, and it shouldn't be to hard to get out on the roof. I for one hope the zombies will be rather slow and unable to climb. Then we will have a great advantage.

What is your favorite easter egg in a Paradox game?

The aliens in HoI2.

It's not that weird. I tend to take my shoes off and stretch my legs when I'm programming. :) Feels comfortable.

And I have two questions:

1) What has been the most problematic part of a game to program for you? And what part has been the most fun to do?
(not necessarily programming, but also modeling, designing etc.)

Most of the things I do is fun, and as I'm always learning something new, I can't say what's the most problematic anything. I had some trouble learning to script events and then the OOB's for the 1940's scenario but now it isn't problematic anymore. Well, not often at least ^^.

2) Do you have some kind of routines/rituals you do at morning when you come to the office?

Not really. I grab a cup of tea or a glass of water, start my computer, update the project we currently work on to be sure I have the latest version. Then I scan the forums while waiting for Visual Studio to build the game and when that is done, I get to work.

Since you most probably use some kind of issue tracking and version management system, how often does somebody commit changes on his/her free-time (if it actually ever happens)?

It happens. How often I wouldn't know, we don't check up on each other like that. I do know of a few patches that were made completely off work hours though.

I don't know about nowadays, but I believe the last three (possibly four) patches for EU2 were developed by Johan on weekends.

Actually, basically all patches before hoi2 was done on my spare time..

Man! Seems you had way to much spare time in the past :D

nah, did on saturdays and sundays or so... I stopped doing it sometime around hoi1 or victoria1 or so when there was too much complaints constantly. Since then I only work on patches when we have budgets for it, or if a community makes me really like them, or I like the game.

I know Doomdark likes fiddling with Rome:VV on his spare time, and I've been seen doing eu3 fixes as well.

Johan, what are some of your favorite non-paradox games?

Dunno.. I used to play wow alot..

Haven't been any good strategygames released since Civ4 though, that I haven't made myself.

Looking forward to SC2 this month, and hoping civ5 is great.

Do any of you ever listen to music while working? If so, which genre or band?

Currently I have a playlist in spotify with bands like The Pipettes, Yelle, Raymond & Maria, and more like that..
