Dear paradox, I would love to see a Modern themed grandstrategy game with modern nations, atleast as HoI4 DLC would be great aswell if you think It's just gonna be a Modern reskin of HoI4

For that to work they perhaps need to avoid real life people and political parties.

War is also not that big of a weapon in politics these days. It's an era of trade, diplomacy and finance. Not sure how HoI can transition to that.

East vs West had a lot of potential and I hope Paradox tries to revive the idea of that period. Whereas a modern game would be much more political and micromanaging instead of war and conquest.

Hello!
I want to ask developers something.
---
I am 26, and I wish to study game content creating and game developing. Game balance polishing, proposing new features, quests, ideas, analyzing player feedback, things like this.
Honestly, my bachelor's education is psychology, but I love games and doing what I wrote above - I edit/create files to most games I play that I feel will get better with my "corrections". And I quite enjoy this process of thinking and creating.
I want to know, where should I start? If you were to start looking for such a specialist, what kind of past experience or certifications or.. what you would be interested in? Can you describe your ideal candidate if you REALLY had such a position in Paradox?

A game design education is a solid start. As part of that, you'll most likely already make several games as class projects. This experience is invaluable. If you do a bit of modding on the side, that should be plenty to get us to look at an application when we are hiring for a Game or Content Designer. The more game projects you can point to, the better, especially if you can explain why you designed it the way you did. From personal experience, the single biggest asset to bring in when applying for a job in the industry and at Paradox is having experience and showing that you have learned from it.

Thank you. I guess I have to start doing and worry less about thinking what I should do.

How does the Clausewitz engine calculate province borders? I know that it uses line renderers, but those are the final products. I would rather like to know how does the code work... not in details, of course, as these are an intelectual property of Paradox. All I want to know is how does the engine know where exactly it has to render the border sprites. Does it check every pixel of the province map and then decides, if the pixel is bordering any pixel of other color? Or does it use some king of an edge detection algorithm, such as Sobel, Prewitt or Roberts?

Thanks for the answer :)

I bought EU4 because of the CK2 converter. Since then, I've purchased almost all the DLC. Then I bought Vic2 because of a fan-made converter. I just bought HOI4 in hopes of using another fan-made converter. I've read on these forums that PDS is not happy with the CK2 —> EU4 converter because it's too much work, or something. But converters also help your sales directly. Many players enjoy mega-campaigns that span multiple historical GSG titles. The fan-made converters are great, but it's of course a struggle for volunteers to keep up with the pace of development.

Will PDS develop and support any save conversions for their upcoming historical games?

They've said before it is hell to maintain and not viable. So I doubt it.

I would like to ask about legal rights to Tyranny universe - does Paradox have them or Obsidian?
Paradox does; IIRC TinyWiking confirmed this recently.

Why do you not make additional payment options for the paradox store? Right now only VISA/Mastercard/Paypal are accepted (as stated in the Faq of the store) and as i would not need these options for anything but buying from your store i just dont see a reason to get one of them especially as it is in your own interest to give your customers ways to pay you directly instead of having to share the revenue at 70/30 with steam which right now is the easy/lazy option to buy from you. Also considering the 70/30 share is it not possible for you to give reasons to buy directly from you like making your store price 39€ or 39.50€ instead of steams 39.99€ for legal reasons? After all even with that price reduction you would earn more than via steam (even at 35€ you would still earn ~7€ more than via steam).

Communication channels.
In recent times I find that many communication is done by videos only (as an example: for ck2 challenges being time limited was said in a video and not written down anywhere in the game or in the forums as far as I know)
Why is there a switch of media?
Will this continue to be the future trend?
Is it really a good way of doing (as no one can efficiently search for information in a video, needs one to be able to listen to it) videos instead of writing?

This is not a question for PDS as such.

The main Paradox General discussion forum would probably be best for this.

Where can I view the "making of a DLC" panel from pdxcon? It doesn't seem to be on either twitch or youtube.

Here is something that I was wondering for a long time: how many people, who worked on original EU4, are still active developers in EU4 dev team right now? Are they still hired in PDS?

I might be mistaken here but I would say none - but most/many are still at PDS on either other titles or in other functions (but my memory might be wrong)

When will CKIII wiki be operative? I want to do my part :)
