So, i just found out how to successfully launch an assault on a building, but now i wanna know if its actually worth it.

I tested assaulting buildings a few times yesterday, and they went pretty terribly

Example 1...

Smoked and assaulted a church with flamethrowers vs an MG, the assault indicator came on and it began... For a good minute no progress seemed to be made, only 1 of the members of the MG team went down... While the assault was going on, the building was being targeted by enemy fire, and i lost an flamethrower guy. Eventually, the MG went down and so did I, but it took what seemed to me to be a very long time...

Example 2....

Launched an assault from a building to another building with my strobtrupp. It was a Canadian rifle team. For almost a minute the assault went on but i lost... hmm.. Strubtrupp who specialize in assault got slaughtered by rifles...

Anyone else know if assaulting is worth it? Seems like the assaulting troops are to weak and vulnerable during an attack and they go down quick.

you're better off using satchel or flamethrower at 100m. bayonet charge is rarely worth it unless you have overwhelming advantage and you want to over run the enemy.

Canadians are actually the best close combat division in the game, sure you did not fought against Stormtroopers? Stosstruppen sadly need a buff, they die much to quick, best weapon to clear a house are troops with Tnt as it kills nearly all of the man inside and lets the rest been hold down 5 secs after engagment. much quicker and deadlier than flamethrowers.

I don't think the SD modeling assaulting is a bayonet charge, I believe its simulating clearing a building out, I guess u can assume some hand to hand is involved.

Stross def need a buff, I didn't want to say it yet but glad somebody shares my opinion. The Canadian was just a rifle squad, nothing more.

So assault a building with pioneers or just stick to normal house to house fighting.

That is to bad because I really like that they are simulating an assult on a building, considering so much of warfare is clearing out building rooms by room in urban environments.

Possibility to assault is nice, but not very useful and very risky. I presume that infantry while assaulting hasn't defense buff from staying in building and that's why it can be easily beaten from sides.

Right now as i see it, assault is more for pinning down enemy units. When assaulting a town i'd sacrifice one rifle squad to pin their MG while the rest of my Infantry advanced.
