I've just found a bride for my 16 year old second son. She's great with huge ... tracts of land. If I can get an hier out of her then one of my dynasty will gain 2 very wealthy provinces. However she's 42. Do I have any hope of my 16 year old Dutch boy of impregnating this 42 year old French Countess with a boy?

Just like in real life it is very unlikely that she will produce children, but it can happen.

Highly unlikely ... but I don't think it is impossible.

Most women tend to become very infertile in their 30s. I think the oldest pregnancy I have had was with a 38 year old.

Its become a bit of a non-issue. She just rebelled and lost all her lands. Now she's fled to my court.

This is a screen shot from my ongoing game (unmodded CK 1.05). I don't know whether she became ill (decreased fertility!) before or after becoming pregnant, but this is weird in any case.

Well, if she's in your Court, and if by some chance you find a way to DOW whom-ever owns her properties now (or they DOW you), she still has a claim on them. In the Peace settlement, you can force them to give her back her properties. Failing that, if she still manages to produce a Heir, her son will inherit those claims down the road, then it's just a matter of finding a way to get a future ruler to inherit those claims (if you still believe that "She's great with huge ... tracts of land" is still worth going after). lol

PS: Oh, I think don't the odds of producing children go up if they have compatible traits and they get the 'I'm in love with my spouse' event? (Or do courtiers even get that event or is it only for the playable character?)

Yeah, I think my own record is 45. I was surprised by that one!

this thread is great if you read it without thinking that it is in a game:D

I usually get ma boys brides that are in their 20+, as offspring is more important to me then huge.... tracts of land

There's nothing better than huge... tracts of land!

ive yet to have a wife conceive after early 30s in the game, but i just kill off the wife after she stops having children and marry my king off to a new woman if i need more children.
does the "lustful" trait help women stay fertile longer, or just make them more likely to have children?

But old... tracts of land tend to get soggy and dry, if you know what I mean.
Anyways, I make all of my kids what would be considered pedos today. Anything more then 18 years old is a no-go.

I had one of my guys with one of the +1 fertility traits marry a woman with both of the +1 fertility traits. They made a LOT of babies! And thats not even counting the guy's like 4 bastards. Pretty soon almost every major family in Europe was related to this guy! :D But I didn't notice the woman being fertile any longer than normal. It seems like characters generally remain fertile until sometime in their mid- to late-30's, after that kids get pretty rare.

Huh, "soggy and dry" at the same time? :D

Yea, I've had a 40-something-year-old man marry a 16 year-old girl plenty of times in this game. It happened back then. And, once the old dude kicks the bucket, you can marry one of his sons to the kid's own step mom! How weird would that be?

I think my most productive king ever had something like two dozen children with 6 wives.

It was weird, I wasn't even killing them off. They'd always seem to pick up some kind of illness or die during childbirth and but my king picked up a bunch of the + health and +fertility traits so he was firing off kids into his 60's

So just how high was his Intrigue rating?
I mean there has to be some point at which the character starts going behind the back of the player...

:rofl::rofl: He killed off his wives without the all-seeing player even noticing! Thats an impressive monarch!
