PATRIC!
Do the following:
send your army of 10k cavalry and besiege the city. Let the small icon appear (soldier with cannon). Let the cannons shoot. Save the game. Reload. The cannons will take another shot. Save, reload and so on. I guarantee that in 8 days the city will be yours. No attrition, no losses.
I found this after I noticed that after reloading the game computer cannons shot again, which is Ok if it was only a symbolic action, but my fortress fell from 1 to -2 right away. Since computer does it on reloading, I figured that anyone can do it while constantly reloading the game. Even though I did this to experiment and am not going to do that to gain an unnecessary advantage, computer doesn't share my feelings, and if for some reason I have to save a game with my city besieged, and later reload it, the game becomes unplayable. The same goes about snow cover - March and November may have snow, but unfortunately, game doesn't save this information. Try to reload, and you'll see that the snow cover changes. In 90% of the cases, it will affect my troops - if there is a siege, it's a sure bet that the snow will appear there upon reloading.
PLEASE, fix this crap, which leaves quite a bit of a bad taste in an otherwise good game.
Thanks.
