"Turning Point"
June 4 1944,
Norman was breathing slowly as he scanned the jungle with his binoculars. A light fog rose from earth, creating ghost-like figures which danced between the trees. He calmly scearched for the Jap fortifications, the report that he had recieved from the Colonel Lloyd suggested that they had dug themselves in really well and had created trenches and bunkers like had been counstructed in the Great War. All the airstrikes were ineffective due to the dence folliage so Norman was forced to do things the old fashoned way. While centering his binoculars on a bunker which had been covered with leaves, Norman radioed the Japs approximate positions to Lloyd and cringed when he heard the whistle echo throughout the dead silent jungle. The first wave of men sprinted from their positions and, as if on cue, hundreds of rifles and machine guns roared to life. One word echoed throughout Norman's mind: Gallipoli...
July 5 1941,
In the past few months several key battles were won over the Japs in the Pacific and in Italy the Amaricans have taken Rome and are pushing foreward. The Russian offencive has pushed all the way to Korea, but they have decided to move around it, due to the fact that the Japs have several elite Mountain divisions stationed there. Blamey was, once again, put in command of a new assault force which consisted of newly developed amphibious tanks and a unit of amphibious assault troops, but they had been nick-named the "Farie Frogs". And finally the well renown Light Horse cavallrly unit. The plan was to land at the lightly defended Kowloon and keep a beach-head open for the regular troops to move in. Finally, Admeral Royle lead our navy to a crushing victory in the Fukuoka sea. His fleet engaged the entire remaining Jap fleet at 6:00 am June 7 and even though outnumberd, Rolyle managed to sink the last two Jap battleships and one of their carriers, not to mention several smaller vessals.
On June 10 Germany launched a very successful assault on Norway and Denmark, the latter surrendered only two days into the assault. The Russians have yet to attack the Germans directly, Instead of moving on German postitions they have spent their time fighting Finland, Latvia and Lithuania (The Japs also). Romania is crushed, only a few pockets of surrounded men remain, a valiant effort on their part. They will be remembered by history...
July 10 1941,
The campaign to liberate China (nicknamed "Swollen Ostrich") was launched at 2:00 am totay, the Farie Frogs smashed through the infantry division there and quickly moved inland to enlarge the landing zone before the Japs could divert units to our positions. Two days later the first shipment of troops landed at Kowloon. The Farie Frogs, under Blamey, were sent to take Shanghai while the army advanced to key positions along the Yangtse river. Four days later the Japs counter-attacked, but not where we expected. They launched an amphibous assault against Kowloon! At the time the Light Horse were holding position there and were forced to fight them off alone. Another shipment of men was sent from Australia awhile earlier and their destination was Kowloon, command tried to get word to them to land at a different position but the message never got through (ooc: actually, I forgot about them...). So they ended up making an amphibious assault against the Japs who were in the process of completing an amphibious assault of their own...
January 15 1942,
At the moment, our lines are stable, but only a week a go I concidered calling the whole thing off. About a month into the invasion the japs attacked with a massive force of infantry and armor. They were green troops, straight out of training but they had brillient commanders and were equiped with state-of-the-art weapons and vehicles. Several divisions were lost but in the end Blamey and the Farie Frogs managed to defend Zhengzhou against the Imperial forces and with that defeat they halted their assault. The Russians made a fatal mistake; when they avoided Korea they sent the bulk of their forces to advance farther into China and only left a small garrision to defend against the Japs there. It came as no surprise (well atleast to us) when a counter-attack was launched by the Mountain Divisions along with some armored and mechinised units. They routed the Russians holding there and proceeded to cut off the rest of the army. Now the whole aisan detachment of the Russian forces is cut-off, without supplies or reinforcements. In Europe, the situation has not changed much. The amaricans have captured Italy but when they attempted to advance into Austria they were shattered by the "God-Like" German forces. Its a shame, the americans outnumber them by quite a margin, yet they fail to advance an inch. High command were discussing the possibility of sending a force to Europe the other day, I really hope they dont think that we can spare the men, China has become a "Meat Grinder". If men are diverted from the front...
Time will....
