Tonight got us to early August 1939.

As the game nears the outbreak of war, Germany has occupied all the 'event' regions, and partioned Czechoslovakia with Hungary. Italy invaded and captured Albania after King Zog refused their demands. Axis diplomats have been seen frantically meeting with the heads of states in Nationalist Spain and Turkey, and similar missions from the Allies have followed suit.

In Asia, Japan has established strong garrisons in conquered China. The Nationalist bandits under Chiang Kai Shek were long ago eradicated, and likewise, the Communist forces were smashed, shortly after more lawless regions in Sinkiang were incorporated into the greater east asia co-prosperity scheme. Japans government now watches as events in Europe begin to head towards a showdown, confident in its military, especially after inflicting a massive defeat on Zhukov at Khalkin Gol. The red army was forced to retreat and lick its wounds while Japans military is yet to face defeat.

Speech in the House

'What is our policy? I will say it is to wage war by land, sea and air with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us... Victory at all costs, Victory in spite of all the terror, Victory however long and hard the road may be.

Winston Spencer Churchill 1874-1965

Fool. How dare you even think of defying German power. The German Reich will last 1000 years, we are the rising power, nothing can stop us. The age of Greater Germany has arrived, all bow before us or be destroyed.

Mercy is for the weak, there can be no peace. The only peace that can be found is on the other side of your extermination. Not even unconditional surrender is good enough.

Do you understand, if not just listen to my panzers they will do the talking.

The British Nation and Empire must again brace itself for total war. For the second time this century a shadow has grown that threatens to plunge the world into a new dark age. The Empire must now steel its self to the task ahead. Engage the enemy on all fronts in all ways possable so that the forces of evil will once again be defeated by the forces of goodness and niceness.

"niceness" how intimidating a phrase for the British empire to say to Germany. Your days are over, a new power is rising, there will be no future for the British empire.

Tonight got us to late Feb 1940.

No changes to speak of in Asia, but in Europe, the German warmachine has been on the rampage. Poland fell, followed by Belguim, France, Luxemburg, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, and Hungary. Romania was also invaded and puppeted. Italy joined the Axis in late 1939 following the fall of Paris, and with the UK clearly overstretched with this early entry, assulted and captured Yugoslavia, only for events to hand this nation to Germany. At games end, Italy had invaded Greece, and was deep in Egypt, annexing that nation, and advancing across the Suez.

US war entry has spun out of control to 100 by the start of 1940 as the Axis glut of conquests does not go unnoticed in Washington. All these early gains have however meant that the UK has lost ground it would otherwise hope to hold for some time. With all of the remainder of 1940, and the spring of 1941 to come before the expiry of the Nazi-Soviet non aggression pact, one wonders which other nations will fall under Axis control in the new year...

Japan meanwhile has commenced an overhaul of her navy, with new model ships being laid down. The Emporer has lead the government in confirming these are purely for self defense of all those asiatic peoples under European domination...

Seems the forum was down for a while, but we played a couple of sessions, details below.

At end of current session, we reached June 22 1941.

In Europe, Germany unleashed further assults, launching several carriers into the cold waters of the Atlantic. Portugal was invaded, and the crucial Azores islands occupied. German naval air, covering her fleets have been inflicting large amounts of damage on UK shipping. Further assults captured Bermuda, neccesitating a US mobilisation in early 1941 (short summary of large debate on this one, we ended up giving US 500 MP that normally we would have given in June 41).

Italy continued its assults in Africa, meeting at first with indifferent results apparently. Fleet losses in the red sea stalled it, but slowly, with gathering momentum, the Italians moved down the African coast, reaching down as far south as Kenya. Inland regions, including up to Djibouti remain in Allied hands.

The Soviets and Germans now face each other over the frontier with large armies. The Germans have more armour and mech, but the Red Army can delpoy around 100 more divisions.

In Asia, Japan slowly consolidates its power by building new models of air, land and naval war machines. New Ministers, and new technologies further advance the empires Industrial clout.

The real question at games end was the impending conflict in the east, and the battle that is expected to rage in the Atlantic. Technology wise the Soviets appear to lead the Axis, whilst Japan leads the way in naval and air techs. All in all, a good couple of sessions shaping up to be a different, but interesting game.

The German Keisermarine has been greatly expanded since 1936. Hitler had premernitions on one dark night in 1936, that germany would need a great navy to defeat an enemy from across the seas. Having a strong navy would allow Germany a number of options once they were deep inside russia engaged in a long war. Instead of ceeding the inititive to the allies in the atlantic like what happens in most games Germany will be proactive and continue to harass and engage enemy fleets where ever they are found. This will help secure Germanies flanks to guard against invaison, sink UK convoys and US ones once there in the war, provide help to both italy and japan by tying up more allied resources when normaly they would go to fight japans navy or the italian navy.

Germany currently has 8 Graf Zepplin class carreries, with CAGs in each fleet supported by germanies finest warships. So far in mainly small battles with the UK, there fleets have been quickly destroyed. Some unluckly allies of the UK have also had there fleets heavily damaged. There was great debate about the German seizure of Bermuda, after taking the azores. Germany stated it must take these islands to help wage the battle of the atlantic and will not refrain from attacking its enemy in any area shes desires. The US has made protests and had annonced a partial military mobilisation and increased aid to the UK. In response Hitler has made several contingency plans, the ultimate invasion and finish off the UK for good, a joint attack with other axis powers at the hostile US, time will tell which option has been decidied. But one thing is clear, Hitlers ambition has changed from wanting to control the USSR, to wanting the utterly destroy and conquer the USA.

The Empire fights on

We will fight them on the land and in the air. We will fight them on the seas and on the ocians. We will fight them on the beaches and on the landing fields. We will fight in the cities, in the towns, in the villages, the streets, and in our very homes. We will defend our Islands, Whatever the cost may be.

WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER!!!

I am going need about 5 minutes when we load tonight on pause as I need to swap all those logistics leaders for something more useful. Also just be patient with me for a little while till I get the hang of it....not use to being attacked in so many places at the same time and I may need to pause to prevent my armies from being wiped out because I couldnt keep up....Still a little unsure on which way my troops will retreat and this is the reason I have moved them from the border mike. I didnt want you to easily surround them but I can assure you there is plenty to attack in the next province. Just hoping they dont retreat forwards into certain death.

Just dont allow your armies to reach 0 org, if they do then yes there is a good chance they will retreat in a direction you do not intend. But you have the manpower so you can aford huge losses anyway. I'll go easy for a bit and see how you go, you have a big army so you might kick my butt.

Our slowest session with war breaking out in Russia got us to September 1941.

I'm sure the German and Soviet players will want to say their piece, but from afar it seemed that things went Germany's way to the main Soviet defenses, and then several large battles took place, a couple going the Soviets way, a couple going the Germans way. The River line was breached at Vitesbsk and in the South at Donestk, but it appears the Red Army retreated from the frontier in good order and escaped with only 1 pocket at Rowne.

Japan meanwhile was forced to invade Siam following flights of the Siamese airforce over Indo-China which capsized a Japanese row-boat. Indemnities were sought, and following the deadline for acceptance, Japan had no choice but to invade modern day Thailand. In a slow campaign waged in Jungles and over rivers, the Japanese made progress with no losses, and used their airforce to good effect. At sessions end, the Siamese were faced with annexation at any moment.

Next session Wednesday 8pm, hopefully with mud and rain in Russia we will get to early 1942.

Big land battles on the Russian front resulted in large casaulties to the Russians but the men lost were quickly replaced. German advances over the river continued but were beaten back with the German tanks forced to retreat accross the river to regain org. A large battle close to Moscow was just beaten off with the Germans stretching their supply lines and having to withdraw to regroup. Full Strength panzers seem unstoppable to the Russians....Will just have to keep throwing human waves at the Nazi divisions. The German commanders are reluctant to use any infantry for attacks or defense and makes me wonder if the old men and young boys are filling the infantry ranks. Should be interesting next session as the Germans are sure to gain bridgeheads accross the major defensive lines.

Hey guys I would love to get involved in playing. I have an adsl connection and no I am not Omni in disguise. How many of you normally play?

Welcome mate...anyone is welcome to play. We currently are using Core .85 and the next session is wednesday 8pm.
