Seems the forum was down for a while, but we played a couple of sessions, details below.
At end of current session, we reached June 22 1941.
In Europe, Germany unleashed further assults, launching several carriers into the cold waters of the Atlantic. Portugal was invaded, and the crucial Azores islands occupied. German naval air, covering her fleets have been inflicting large amounts of damage on UK shipping. Further assults captured Bermuda, neccesitating a US mobilisation in early 1941 (short summary of large debate on this one, we ended up giving US 500 MP that normally we would have given in June 41).
Italy continued its assults in Africa, meeting at first with indifferent results apparently. Fleet losses in the red sea stalled it, but slowly, with gathering momentum, the Italians moved down the African coast, reaching down as far south as Kenya. Inland regions, including up to Djibouti remain in Allied hands.
The Soviets and Germans now face each other over the frontier with large armies. The Germans have more armour and mech, but the Red Army can delpoy around 100 more divisions.
In Asia, Japan slowly consolidates its power by building new models of air, land and naval war machines. New Ministers, and new technologies further advance the empires Industrial clout.
The real question at games end was the impending conflict in the east, and the battle that is expected to rage in the Atlantic. Technology wise the Soviets appear to lead the Axis, whilst Japan leads the way in naval and air techs. All in all, a good couple of sessions shaping up to be a different, but interesting game.
