auto minimize problem

Ok, I was playing HoI fine on my computer before, I went to buy a better harddrive for my computer and installed everything on the new HD to use as the new main drive.

Tried to install HoI, the video and intro works, but when we start loading the actual game, the game auto minimizes back to desktop. I can hear the music playing but no video as it seems like the game won't maxmize on my screen.

The game does not seem to be frozen, I've tried setting to 16 bit, reinstalling, updating to 1.06 or 1.06c, renaming avi to avi_back etc.

Running in win2000 (worked fine before hd upgrade). Anyone got any hints or suggestions?

Obviously the drivers have changed or have different settings.
Make sure everything else is off, including Virus protection, and firewall.
If you are paranoid, then unplug the modem.

Ahhh.. okay.. thanks it works fine now.

The problem was Norton Antivirus and its autoprotect function. Once I turned that off, it worked like normal. Thanks!
